Ace/Dice Bundy of Neighborhood, suburban on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Ace/Dice Bundy and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ace/Dice, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
They look forward to receiving their order from me. I have one right now, saving up for a rather expensive character commission! It warms my heart knowing my work makes people excited and happy.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hiya! I’m Ace/Dice! I go by He/They/Vamp pronouns. I am a disabled and two-spirit lesbian based in Philadelphia! I have developed a goth/alt style not only in my work, but also in my fashion sense.

I’m a freelance artist and character designer who has been drawing since the age of 6! I’m now 24 and working towards my goals of making more recognizable original characters. I am also slowly but surely working on a comic.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That I am to blame for things I did not do. Throughout my childhood, I was told to apologize for things that weren’t even my fault. Even though such a belief still affects me to this day, I am around people who are willing to let me know if I should even apologize.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Failure. I have always worried about being a failure ever since I was 7 or 8, when I started playing piano and doing more intensive homework during my summers. I was an honors kid very early on, and I do think it affected how quickly I do my work. I have become a perfectionist, and it saddens me that I take about 3 times as long with a commission compared to most artists.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Integrity, compassion, and honesty. I have had a few relationships where each of these things was either abused or not acknowledged by the people I was friends with or dating. My closest friends and my current girlfriend have also seen how past complications affected me then and now.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If immortality were real, what would you build?
I would build my own company and brand. I want to do it all: fashion, comics, shows, memorable characters, music, modeling, acting. I want a taste of everything, and most importantly, I want everyone to see my many talents.
