Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Mason Aksamit of Newport

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Mason Aksamit. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Mason, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Typically I make my bed, brush my teeth and either go to one of my jobs, write, or hit the gym (depending on the day).

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Mason Aksamit, and I am the founder of Old World Productions and Publishing. This year, we have published three distinct stories. The first is The One-Year Diploma Roadmap, which guides college students on how to earn their bachelor’s degree in one to two years for under $20,000. There’s also an online course available on Skool that complements the roadmap.

In addition, I am working on the American Fairy Tales series, which pays homage to the greats of cinema over the past two centuries. My brand focuses on authentic, timeless storytelling with deeply relatable characters. My goal is to spark a renaissance in the film industry and Hollywood by prioritizing high-quality storytelling through comedy, drama, compelling plots, meaningful conflict, and strong character dynamics that ensure stories remain timeless.

All of my works weave moral lessons into their narratives. So far this year, we have released The Mancini Dealership and The Narcissist of Neville Lighthouse, with a third story, Le Faux, set to be released later this month.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Throughout my early twenties, I frequently used marijuana. While I’m not ashamed of that period, the frequency of my usage often held me back from taking consistent action toward my dreams. Now, as I focus on building the projects I truly want to create at a steady and intentional pace, I am intentionally weaning off marijuana. My priority is bringing these stories to life—I currently have 20 different screenplays that I am converting into books, all aimed at making a meaningful impact in the world.

What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
Romance is something I changed my approach to after experiencing some difficult heartbreaks. I’ve stepped back from dating in general because I don’t enjoy the social “game” of having to follow all the steps perfectly to make things work. My focus now is on my work, which I truly love, and on attracting a partner who shares a similar drive and ambition. I’m also committed to becoming a strong communicator about my feelings, so I can connect with someone who is equally clear and open about theirs, allowing us to understand and support each other fully.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
The person you see in my interviews and public appearances is absolutely the real me. The characters I play in my films may contain aspects of myself, but they are always distinct from who I am personally. I’ve learned that when I tried to fit into other people’s expectations or wear a persona to meet their needs, it held me back from achieving true success. Once I shifted to prioritizing authenticity—being honest and transparent about my thoughts and feelings—I began making real progress. People respect that authenticity, and it allows me to move meaningful projects forward with integrity and impact.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
I’ve spent the past eight years creating and writing 20 deeply meaningful stories across a variety of genres. Today, I’m releasing them as books and filming snippets to build critical mass and develop products I can eventually sell to streaming services. I don’t know exactly how long it will take to see a full payoff—it could be a few months, or it could take 7 to 10 years—but I truly believe in my work.

The value in these stories lies in their focus on making the world a better place. They explore the idea that all humans face similar challenges, and it’s our approach and perception—how we handle life’s obstacles—that shapes who we become. The people who’ve read my work recognize its worth, and I’m committed to continuing this process, trusting that it will create lasting impact and success over time.
