We’re looking forward to introducing you to Rod Fluellen . Check out our conversation below.
Hi Rod , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
As a full time entrepreneur as a realtor and cleaning business owner no day is exactly the same. However I do have daily routines that help me stay focus, organize and determined to dominate the day. So travel with me as I describe a typical day. My morning starts with a cup of coffee followed by a hour at gym. After returning from the gym and showering, I put on my realtor hat and begin to make my lead generation cold calls, lead following up phone calls, and unengaged lead phone calls from the hours 8am – 11am. I typically then have my first meal of the day between the hours of 11am- 12pm, followed by house showings/tours or listing appointments that were scheduled either during my phone calls or from a previous day. While out showing/touring properties, I also put on my cleaning business owner hat and check the cleaning business email account, return phone class and check in with current clients to make sure we are still providing exceptional cleaning service. I also check in with my employees to make sure everyone has what he/she needs for the night and to provide information giving to me from the client(s). Around 6:00pm, I typically have my second meal of the day. If I don’t have scheduled showing for that evening, I begin to make my rounds to the businesses we clean. Although I am the owner I am also apart of a crew that provides cleaning every night at one of the buildings we have a cleaning contract with. I usually return home around 9:30pm and check in with my kids and wife to see how was their day, how was school/work etc. following the conversation I shower and prepare for the next day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Rod Fluellen and I’m full time entrepreneur. Prior to becoming a full time entrepreneur as a realtor and cleaning business owner I was apart of the public school system for 16 years. During my 16 years in the public school system I had the opportunity to be a special education teacher for 10 years and an assistant principal for 6 years. This serving the community has always been a passion as I feel it is my calling. With the same dedication, hard work I displayed in the school system, I now display as a realtor by going above and beyond for each and every client and as a cleaning business owner as we take pride in providing exceptional cleaning services.
My story began in a single parent household of a mother who worked multiple jobs to make ends meet. As a method to help with my overly hyper behavior and to help teach discipline, I was enrolled in sports at the age of 6. That early decision to enroll me in sports not only provided the opportunity for me to learn life long lessons and skills, that decision opened so many doors. One of those doors was a full football scholarship to Winston Salem State University (WSSU) in which I became the first college graduate in my family.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Unfortunately I grew up in a single family household. With that being said there were many things I didn’t have a male adult show me or teach me. And as simple as this may sound, I truly felt powerful when I taught myself how to tie a neck tie at the age of 10. That simple task taught me so many lessons. For example, it taught me that I’m capable of doing and achieving anything. It also taught me the power of hard work and never giving up as it took me many attempts before finally being able to tie a neck tie.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of failure and feeling like I am not good enough or worthy of being successful is something that has held me back.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
The same energy you put into the world is the same energy that will return you. I also believe, it’s nothing you can’t achieve if you put your mind to it.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m at the beach. The waves, atmosphere, scene and vibe is extremely calming and allows my mind not to race at 100 miles per hour

so if you or someone you know deserves recognition please let us know here.
