We recently had the chance to connect with Brad & Blair Driver and have shared our conversation below.
Brad & Blair, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Are you walking a path—or wandering?
We’re undeniably wandering—and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Our journey, chronicled on thirteenadventures.com, is less about following a set path and more about embracing the unknown with open hearts and fearless spirits. From the moment we hitched our first trailer, we’ve let the spark of discovery guide us, whether it’s chasing new horizons across 100,000 miles, hiking the 2,198.4-mile Appalachian Trail, or exploring Canada and Alaska’s wild expanses in our van this past summer.
For us, wandering isn’t aimless—it’s purposeful exploration. It’s the freedom to pivot from National Park quests to ultra-marathons, from ski slopes to uncharted trails, all while living fully in our rolling aluminum home. My 24 years as a U.S. Marine and Blair’s 15 years as a nurse and nurse practitioner fuel our drive to embrace what’s next. We’re not tied to one destination but energized by uncovering the world and ourselves along the way. Come wander with us—we can’t wait to see where this journey takes us all.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We’re Brad and Blair, the heart behind Thirteen Adventures, a nomadic journey we share at thirteenadventures.com. We’re full-time RV explorers, living out of our Airstream—a silver symbol of freedom crafted from aluminum, the element with the atomic number thirteen. Since February 2021, we’ve roamed over 100,000 miles in our 27FB Airstream, chasing the thrill of discovery across America’s wild landscapes. What makes us unique? Our unyielding passion for adventure, from hiking the entire 2,198.4-mile Appalachian Trail in 2023 to Blair crushing her first 100-mile ultra-marathon in 2024, and our recent summer exploring Alaska’s rugged beauty in our van.
Our story blends Brad’s 24 years of resilience as a U.S. Marine with Blair’s 15 years of compassion as a nurse and nurse practitioner, creating a life fueled by exploration and growth. We’re on a mission to visit every National Park, ski untamed slopes, and bike new trails, all while sharing the highs and lows of this nomadic life with our community. Thirteen Adventures isn’t just about travel—it’s about embracing the unknown, reflecting on what matters, and inspiring others to find their own spark of adventure. Join us as we keep pushing forward, eager to see where the road takes us next.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
For us at Thirteen Adventures, our earliest memory of feeling powerful hit soon after we launched our YouTube channel and social media at thirteenadventures.com. As we shared our journey of full-time RV living, people started reaching out, asking for our advice on picking the right RV, choosing accessories, planning epic travel routes, and fixing issues on the road. We were floored by how quickly we became a trusted voice in the RV and Airstream community.
Those moments feel powerful because it shows us that our experiences could inspire and guide others. We don’t take this lightly—whether it’s offering honest gear reviews or sharing tips for chasing adventures, we pour our hearts into being authentic and helpful. For Blair, it’s about empowering others to embrace the unknown with confidence. For Brad, it’s about leading with integrity, drawing on years of problem-solving to give back. Becoming a resource for this vibrant community gave us a deep sense of purpose and strength, fueling our drive to keep exploring and sharing the journey.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Haha, every week when we start editing a video, we jokingly say we’re ready to throw in the towel! In all seriousness, there have been moments at Thirteen Adventures where the grind of producing weekly content for thirteenadventures.com feels overwhelming. The hours of filming, editing, and sharing our RV journey—while living it full-time—can pile up fast. We pour countless hours into creating videos and posts, and the truth is, the compensation doesn’t come close to matching the effort. We don’t expect it to, since we have other lives and income, and social media is a passion project, but the workload can still weigh heavy.
Yet, every time we’re on the verge of burnout, our incredible community pulls us back. The messages, questions, and stories from fellow RVers and adventure-seekers remind us why we do this. Their enthusiasm for our tips on RV gear, travel routes, or troubleshooting inspires us to keep going. Knowing we’re a voice for this vibrant community fuels our drive to push through and keep sharing the journey, no matter how tough the editing slog gets.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
We’re thrilled when people tell us we’re just as genuine off-camera as we are on our YouTube channel and social media at thirteenadventures.com. That’s a great feeling, because it’s exactly what we aim for. The public version of us—sharing our RV travels, offering tips on gear and routes, and connecting with the community—is the real us. We don’t put on a persona; whether we’re filming a breakdown of Airstream life or responding to a follower’s question about RV repairs, we’re the same folks you’d meet on the road. Our passion for exploration and giving back to the community comes straight from the heart, and we strive to keep it authentic, both on and off the screen.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. How do you know when you’re out of your depth?
We’re no strangers to being out of our depth—whether it’s tackling a tricky Airstream repair, upgrading our rig, or navigating an unfamiliar travel destination. We know we’re in over our heads when we hit something we haven’t experienced before, like a complex mechanical issue or a new trail we’re unsure about. But that’s where the magic of our community at thirteenadventures.com shines. We lean on the wisdom of fellow RVers, adventurers, and experts who are always ready to lend a hand or share their knowledge. We love how this tight-knit community steps up, offering guidance and support whenever we’re diving into uncharted territory. It’s a reminder that we’re never alone, no matter how deep the waters get.
