Heather Feliciano shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Heather, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
OhYes!!, I have many moments to be proud of recently. I’m one step closer toward my dream job and I’m going for another degree. It makes me really proud because adulthood, parenthood and entrepreneur hood, (life) can be overwhelming. I’m proud of remaining solid through the upheavals life pushed me to grow through. I’ve had some seasons that have made me question my path and my dreams. Instead of focusing on what wasn’t working, I had to have a pep talk with myself and change my perspective for the better and focus on what I can do to set those things in motions. Literally telling myself as long as you lay a brick a day you’re going to build. I’m very proud of that. Those times when I felt like giving up, the universe would throw signs of reassurance at me and it motivated me to keep my eyes on my prize and trust my process. I’m very proud of that.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Heather, I’m from Brooklyn, New York, born and raised!!! I’m latina 100% Boricua, Puerto Rican or as New Yorkers would say Nuyorican!! I have my professional job. I am currently working towards going higher in the chain of command. I’m a mother to an amazing talented upcoming artist and I am an entrepreneur I started my brand from scratch. I’m a cosmetologist, I love wigs and makeup. I will be a leader dream job wise. I started Pynk House because I am a passionate, confident fashionista and it uplifts me to see women thrive! I love fashion! It makes me so happy to see a woman feeling and being her best self. I’ve always been into fashion and making bold statements with my swaggy style, outgoing personality and my colors. I just want to share that with everyone! I’m working towards having my own set up where woman can get beauty services done and shop! I love accessories and dressing anything up and that’s what I want. I want to have a place where women can get beautified and grab something cute to match their fly! I’m also paving the way for my son to show him you can do anything you want in life as long as you put your mind to it.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was young a shy girl scared of the world. Scared of life and its struggles. Honestly growing up in Brooklyn my whole life you see a lot, most things are things you shouldn’t have seen. It made me have the thick skin and confidence I have today. I learned to break out of being shy I had no choice as I grew older and experienced music, my culture the things I love, the voice inside of me grew louder. I learned to be myself even when society told me I would be a statistic. I made it my business to be more than they said I would be. I made sure to finish high school without having a baby on my hip. Growing up in the Spanish culture if you made it to 21 with no kids, that was a win. No shade at all to my young ladies you can still have the life you want childless or now. It was something I kept with me. Where I come from people tell you who you are before you even know who you are.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes many times, especially when things aren’t going my way or the process is taking a little longer than I expected and it forces me to put my energy into prioritizing. Reality vs. my dreams sometimes feels like my dreams are just dreams and reality will always win, but then as I said before, the universe will throw me an opportunity to show my talent and personality me that what I’m working toward is what I’m destined for. I’ll get an opportunity to collaborate or network by being introduced to someone connected to my path. I stay true to myself and my vision because me accomplishing everything I want is what truly makes me happy. It shows me as proof to myself that I can do anything I want. You just have to take that leap of faith and take full control of your life and your happiness.Trust that process! If there’s something you don’t like you have the power to change it and that’s an any and every aspect. Just be patient with god and yourself. I couldn’t do it without God.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes it is, I am 100% authentically myself! I uplift, I empower and I am genuine love! I really want all of us to win and succeed in this hard life!
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I was one of a kind. My love, my passion, my personality! My fashion sense,my swag, my resilience. My love for my music and my culture! That I was food for the soul. Light in the dark and hope when faith was lost. I want to be remembered as a beautiful ambitious woman that saw potential in others when they didn’t see it in themselves, an uplifter. A leader, a friend, a sister, a mother that truly loves her child and family. A positive role model an inspiration and most importantly a leader that always beat their own drum, unapologetically, wholeheartedly.
