Hari Bhaskar of Manhattan on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Hari Bhaskar and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Hari, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
It probably has to be my purpose – of becoming the best actor that I can be. A lot of that is not visible because it is the development of my own person and personality, so there are a lot of things which are not necessarily tangible and visible immediately, but would be on display in the long run without even realising it.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a South Asian actor based in New York City. I moved from India in 2021 to attend the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and graduated in 2022. I’ve done extensive work in theatre and commercials, with a few films.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
I would have to say my dad. His work ethic is one of the best that I’ve ever seen. He is very committed to his work and always strives for the best results and leaves nothing behind.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
It happens probably once every six months to be honest. I often think why I’m doing this, especially when I see posts on social media of my friends vacationing.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
For the longest time, it was, but of late, I’ve started to realise that I shouldn’t share so much of myself out in the open. I should keep those elements to myself and my closest circle.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I believe I’m doing what I was born to do. Whenever I feel like quitting, I often think how good of an actor I am and what amazing abilities I have that shouldn’t be thrown away on the way side.
