We’re looking forward to introducing you to Naina Kaur Vohra. Check out our conversation below.
Naina , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I think what’s misunderstood most about digital creators is that they have a very glamorous and easy life. No one comes to watch the kind of hard work that goes into making the content. Everything from the writeup to the editing, music and creative input comes from a digital creator. So digital creator is not just a word it involves lot of behind the scenes work. And we influencers or digital creators put in lot of hard work into the brand and their origin before bringing the content in front of people. It’s not just about showing your face and saying a few dialogues. It involves a lot of technical and clerical work as well.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Well I am a fashion blogger and a digital creator and I have a page on instagram in the name of trendbugs_by_naina. My page is predominantly about fashion but I touch other trending topics as well which involves beauty, food, lifestyle and interiors which was my profession earlier.
You will definately find something interesting everytime you come across my page as I keep exploring different things and new ideas on fashion and lifestyle. I also get invitations for various events which I cover on my page promoting the brand and spreading awareness in the process. My recent events have been a fashion exhibition in kolkata and a restaurant opening in guwahati among others.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
There have been many such moments where I felt powerful and strong but the one that changed me was in school where I was always appreciated for my reading and writing skills in my young days. My teachers and friends encouraged me to choose writing as my profession. That was the time when I also wrote 2 books.
I found that my writing skills had the power to make a difference and that’s where it all started.
Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
Yes i miss being an interior designer. That profession was also very demanding and involved lot of creativity and artistic bent. I miss being on the site for my work. It involved lot of hard work, client meetings, technical drawings, site work, designing, creative input, purchasing and many more but I still miss those days because I was known for my originality and hard work and got lot of appreciation at a young age. The fact that you transform an empty space into a beautiful well furnished place is really inspiring.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes almost all of it. I have a personal space and I choose my assignments and brands because I believe in them. So whatever you see of me is real. I am a very transparent person inside out. There are certain assignments I take up because of my good relation with a brand. So there are few exceptions.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had only 10 years left with me I will completely change my lifestyle and work towards the welfare and future of my family and loved ones. I will make sure that I make their lives secured before I leave this world. I would try to help as many people as possible because I have always wanted to do something for the people in general. I might start working with the NGO as well.
