We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lyric Everly. Check out our conversation below.
Lyric, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
For years, I’ve been waking up without an alarm at sunrise. To me, conversations with God feel clearest in the early light. Some of the essentials after that: drink water, tune into the frequency I want to carry through the day, stretch and shower, moisturize, do the most mentally challenging thing first. I also like to do my hair & makeup most days so I feel ready to face whatever comes up! I’m a big believer in a little extra effort going a long way.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m very grateful to be living a big creative life — I founded a full-service branding & creative agency, recorded a guided meditation album this year as a lifelong musician, and have been honored with multiple awards for my service work. I’ve had two featured editorials as a Playboy creator and I’m working on my first release of erotic art prints. I’m also a conscious blogger at goodlightliving.com and love exploring the art of living well!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I fell out of a treehouse when I was five years old and blacked out. There were all kinds of treacherous boards, nails, and tools below where I should have fallen, but when I came back to consciousness, I was lying in soft grass at a distance that didn’t make any logical sense. Even at 5, I had a knowing that I’d been carried by angels. That moment sent me on a lifelong spiritual journey of seeking (and finding) God’s presence.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
I’ve had many, but these were some of the deepest:
-illness as a child
-an arsonist burning down my family’s business
-divorces
-my father’s untimely passing, then witnessing my step-father’s death
-betrayal (both business & personal)
-toxic mold exposure leading to sudden hearing loss
With all of these challenges, my greatest healing has come from recognizing that everything in the universe is by grand design. It can be difficult to accept this when you’re in the thick of it difficulties, but when you zoom out, all things are in an order beyond our understanding even when it looks like chaos up close. The contrast of things we label as “darkness” can be our greatest teachers guiding us back to truth, back to love. With the acceptance of this belief comes “amor fati” or “love of one’s fate.” Just keep moving towards the light. There is always more love, more beauty on the other side.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’ve been studying my Gene Keys Life Path of “Sanctity” — I see this as an embodied way of honoring God’s presence in all things. A few years ago, I was shown very clearly that my life purpose is to be a conduit between the earthly & divine. I’ve since become devoted to the dream of stewarding a non-denominational sanctuary with gorgeous gardens — a space for nurturing peace, where the veil is thin and allows for pure, deep connection with the creator.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
I deeply believe that getting to “know thyself” (understanding ourselves at a soul level) is extremely beautiful, and even essential to our evolution, but I also believe that once we’ve done this, we should LET IT ALL GO. The next level is to remove all labels and return to our I Am state where our “being” is enough and our unique existence gives us inherent worth, not any titles, roles, or possessions.
I recorded a guided meditation album called “BEING” to support this belief. I welcome you to listen at goodlightliving.com/being
