Meet Ariel Grinspoon

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ariel Grinspoon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Ariel, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I didn’t so much find my purpose, it more tripped me, sat on my chest, and refused to get up until I paid attention. For years, I played the part of who I thought I was supposed to be, but the more I leaned into my messy, imperfect, beautifully human self, the clearer my purpose became. So, I wouldn’t say I chased it down, I just stopped finding reasons to run from it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m the lead singer of Solid Maybe, an acoustic band that covers everything from The Grateful Dead to Beyonce. What’s most exciting about what I do is the connection; turning a quiet dinner crowd into a full-blown sing-along, or watching someone’s eyes light up because a song took them right back to a memory they didn’t even know they still had.

Music has always been a constant in my life, but it took me a while to really claim it as my purpose. Now I get to share it on stages across Maryland, DC, and beyond. Our brand is all about authenticity: we don’t just play songs, we live in them, and invite the crowd in with us.

Right now, we’re expanding into new venues and booking for holiday 2025–2026 events (because the best parties need live music people will actually remember). I’d love for people to know that Solid Maybe isn’t just background sound. We’re about creating moments that feel alive, together, and a little bit magical.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I’d say the three qualities that carried me are:

Resilience — because life has a way of throwing curveballs, and sometimes you have to sing through the mess before it turns into music.

Vulnerability — the willingness to be real, even when it feels scary, is what makes people actually feel what you’re doing.

A sense of humor — because if you can’t laugh at yourself when things go sideways (and they will), you’ll miss out on the joy along the way.

My advice? Stop waiting to feel “ready” (spoiler alert, you never will). Begin messy, stay wildly curious, and forget about perfection (it’s overrated anyway). What makes you unforgettable isn’t flawlessness, it’s the raw, unpolished humanness you bring to what you do. It’s the very thing that reminds the rest of us we’re human too.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I believe the best music (and really, the best anything) comes from connection. I’m always looking to grow, whether that’s through collaborating with other musicians, partnering with venues that want to create unforgettable nights, or working with creatives in areas like songwriting, voiceover, or brand partnerships.

I’m also looking to connect with the right manager or agent; someone who understands my vision, has strong industry connections, and wants to help take this to the next level. At the heart of it, I’m drawn to folks who value authenticity, aren’t afraid to take risks, and believe music is more than just sound, it’s about creating moments people carry with them long after the last note.
