We’re looking forward to introducing you to Brenda Martinez. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Brenda, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
Both. Over a year ago I uprooted my life, and my business. My husband and I sold our house in the city and moved two hours West into a small home, in a small community in the middle of the mountains. This is a path I think both of our souls were distend for, yet I find myself wandering through these mountains, and a new way of doing business. I think sometimes our path wanders in order to find our destiny.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I am Brenda, owner of Soul Deep Life. For years I defined myself through the many modalities I practiced, but with the transformations of this past year I have evolved that definition to encompass all of it as an Etheric Healer. I help others connect with their soul’s origin and purpose through their past lives, ancestors, soul blueprints, shadows and empowerment across timelines and dimensions.
Integrated into this I am also a mom, wife, mema, friend, but most of all I am a soul on a journey of self-discovery who loves to help others do the same. I am blessed to share all of this with the love of my life in a place that feels like paradise. My life and business continue to evolve and the definition of myself will also continue to evolve.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I used to believe my voice didn’t matter. I believed that I was better off keeping my emotions and opinions to myself, and that my gifts were something to hide. Over the years, through self-help books, classes, and deep shadow work, I’ve learned to see things differently. What I have to offer is important. My gifts are important. And it’s okay to share my opinions, as long as I hold respect for myself and others along the way.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I believe that the hard things we go through in life are often blessings in disguise. That might not be a popular view, but for me, every challenge has taught me to ask, “What did I gain from this?” What did I learn?”. When I look back on moments of my life that were painful, difficult or even scary, I focus on who I became because I made my way through it. I also notice how I can help others because I can relate to what they are going through.
The funny thing is, we’re often taught how to work through our shadows, but not how to navigate success. That’s what I’m working to create right now.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That successful healers can’t be wealthy, or they “shouldn’t” be wealthy. There has been a long-standing belief that if you are in the spiritual healing community you much sacrifice yourself, and your wealth for the greater good. Yet the truth, my truth anyway is that if I take care of myself first, not in a selfish way, but in a way that I truly care about myself so that I am overflowing, that overflow, the cream of the crop is what spills over. And that is Valuable. I am Valuable, what I’ve studied and created is valuable, not only to myself, but to those I share my life with; this includes my friends, my family, and my clients.
Because of this I believe what I charge, the energy exchange I accept, is not cheap. What I do doesn’t come cheap, because I am valuable, I’m here to create an abundant life * For me, for you for us (The words of my mentor – Melanie Ann Layer)
I think the industry is waking up to this, and learning that self-worth, our value is not measured by how much we deplete ourselves or our bank accounts, but that it’s healthy and important to value ourselves enough to allow self-care for ourselves and our bank accounts.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Through the work I do I understand that we are eternal beings. That we have lifetimes of experience, lifetimes of creating, lifetimes of being and doing all kinds of different “good” and “bad” things to and with one another. I understand we choose much of our incarnation’s experiences, as well as the players who come along to be supporting actors. We come here and forget that we are amazing creators, and that we have way more power than we give ourselves credit for. The awakening that is happening on earth right now is us coming into alignment with our higher selves to remember this.
