Dawnette Palmore shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Dawnette, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A typical day for me always begins with quiet reflection and a good cup of coffee—it’s how I set the tone before stepping into the whirlwind of business and life. From there, I look over my priorities for the day and decide what really needs my focus. Some mornings I’m diving deep with clients, helping them gain clarity around their finances or stepping into my role as a Fractional CFO to map out strategies. Other days, I’m creating—whether that’s recording a podcast, developing resources, or preparing for my next workshop.
By the afternoon, I shift into collaboration mode—client check-ins, strategy calls, and conversations that keep my businesses moving forward. But one of my favorite parts of the day is when I get to slow down and share coffee with a friend or colleague. Those connections fuel me just as much as the work does.
No two days are exactly alike, but the thread that runs through all of them is purpose—serving, building, and creating, while making space for the relationships and moments that matter most.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Dawnette Palmore, founder of Your Money On Purpose Coaching. I work as both a Money Coach and a Fractional CFO, helping women entrepreneurs and small business owners gain clarity, confidence, and control over their money. What makes my work unique is that I don’t just focus on the numbers—I help people connect their finances to their values and their bigger vision, so money becomes a tool to create freedom instead of stress.
Alongside my coaching and CFO work, I also provide life, health, and business insurance solutions. From buy-sell agreements to executive benefits, I help business owners protect what they’re building while ensuring their families and employees are secure. It’s a natural extension of the financial clarity work I do—because true financial freedom also requires protection and peace of mind.
My journey started from a place of not having financial guidance myself. Over the years, I learned how to create a plan, pay off debt, and build systems that actually work with the ups and downs of income. Now I get to share that with others so they don’t have to struggle the way I once did.
Beyond coaching, I also host the Your Business On Purpose and Coffee with Coachez podcasts, lead workshops for organizations to improve employee financial wellness, and speak at events to empower women in business. Right now, I’m especially excited about expanding my Profit & Purpose Plan subscription, where I walk alongside business owners not just as a coach but as their strategic financial partner.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple mission: to take people from chaos to clarity with their money—and show them that financial freedom is possible on their terms.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The moment that shaped how I see the world was the day I gave my life to Jesus. Up until then, I was headed down a very different path—one filled with choices that weren’t serving me or the life I truly wanted. When I encountered His love and grace, everything changed. It wasn’t about religion or rules; it was about realizing that I was seen, valued, and had a purpose.
That day gave me a new lens for how I view life and people. I began to understand that no matter what someone has been through, there is always hope, redemption, and the possibility of a fresh start. It’s the foundation of my work today—helping others break free from chaos and step into clarity, knowing that their past doesn’t have to define their future.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
It showed me that I am a survivor—that no matter how heavy or painful the season, it is just that: a season. Seasons change, and so do we. Walking through hardship taught me that I can endure really difficult things and still come out stronger, wiser, and more compassionate on the other side.
Success feels good, but it doesn’t shape character the way suffering does. In those moments of trial, I learned perseverance, faith, and the ability to see beyond the present struggle. As 2 Timothy reminds us, we are called to endure and keep pressing forward. My hardships have given me not just resilience, but a deeper empathy for others and a stronger belief in the beauty of redemption.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in the financial industry is that money is just about the numbers. We’re told if you budget right, invest well, or buy the “perfect” product, everything will fall into place. But the truth is, money is emotional. Our mindset, beliefs, and habits around money play just as big a role as the dollars themselves. If we don’t address those, no strategy will truly stick.
Another lie is that financial freedom has to look the same for everyone—that it’s only about hitting a certain income level or having a certain net worth. In reality, freedom looks different for each of us. For some, it’s the ability to travel. For others, it’s more time with family or simply less stress around paying bills.
And finally, in the insurance space, there’s often this push that it’s all about sales quotas and products. But insurance done right is about protection, peace of mind, and creating a safety net so that families and businesses can thrive no matter what comes their way.
I believe in breaking through those lies by teaching people to connect their money to their values, protect what matters most, and define financial freedom on their own terms.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I’m gone, I hope the story people tell about me is that my faith and family always came first. That everything I built in business, every client I served, and every stage I spoke on flowed out of my love for Jesus and the values He placed in me. I want them to remember me as someone who walked out her faith in a real, imperfect, but genuine way — showing grace, strength, and hope to others.
I also want people to say that I fiercely loved my family — that I was a devoted wife, mom, and Grammy who poured into the people closest to me while also building something that would bless generations to come.
Beyond that, I hope they’ll tell the story of a woman who turned pain into purpose, who taught others to rise above fear and scarcity, and who believed that financial freedom and peace of mind were possible for everyone. If they can say, “She loved God, she loved her family, and she helped others step into clarity and purpose,” then I’ll know I left the right kind of legacy.
