We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jf Davis. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Jf , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My wife and I have moved into a farm in Maine with a lot of land. I enjoy getting on my tractor and heading out in the field to work on my stone walls, cut down some trees along the edges or maybe mowing around the edges to retain what was there 200 years ago.. I am at most content when I am out there, just plugging away at nature.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Well, my name is Jf Davis and I am an actor. I have been working on my craft and in the movie and TV business for 30 plus years.
It’s a long journey but it has been an amazing one. I have had the chance to work with many talented people over the years and now I am really hitting my stride.
I am getting the opportunity to star in some great little independent films. I’ve been able to work in some Westerns, which I have always been wanting to do.
Most recently starring in a Western film by Paul and Patty Winters titled “Bountiful”.. as well as getting to work with some amazingly talented people, I also get to ride a horse and really get into that old west character.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world decided who I was going to be, like most young men, I was searching. I was always trying to figure out my direction in life, my purpose. I tried many things from driving race cars, working as an electrician, starting my own business, etc… then one day I saw someone that I knew on TV and it hit me. Even though life was good and I was happy, There was something missing. From that day forward I was heading down a new path and soon found myself in Hollywood pursuing a dream.
So basically I was a young man with a dream, a passion, who found the courage to chase that dream.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I don’t think there was ever a time where I almost gave up. Very early in my career I was feeling alone in a new city and facing what I knew was a hard road. I sat down in a Jonny Rockets hamburger place on Ventura Blvd., I only had a few bucks in my pocket and a passion not to become famous but to learn my craft and become a working actor. At that moment I sat on a stool feeling a bit lost and lonely when this rush came over me, I think I teared up a bit and I realized that I was where I was meant to be. No family, no friends but a passion to learn and a desire to become…. And here I am 33 years later, still not ready to give up!
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Anyone who really knows me, especially those who are close to me know one thing is true. Family is everything to me. I am loyal to a fault and was always close to my mom. I have been lucky to have an amazing family support system with my step dad, my dad my step brothers and sisters, etc… and getting married and having children only strengthened that. My wife and my boys are my world.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely I could and I do.
In anything I do in my life I try to give it my all, that was how I was raised. A good work ethic is something missing in much of the world today, but I was lucky to have great role models in my dad and my step dad. Whether it be working bagging groceries as a young man, digging a hole on a construction site, raising my children or creating a character in a movie. I do my best and do not look for any praise, when you have a good family support system, you have all the praise you need.
