An Inspired Chat with Justin P. Slaughter of Bellingham

We recently had the chance to connect with Justin P. Slaughter and have shared our conversation below.

Justin P., really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
A lot of people and I do mean A LOT of people has this misconception that you HAVE to move to LA or you have to be in Hollywood when it comes to making movies; even Major Motion Pictures. When the truth is productions in LA started declining significantly in the Late 90’s early 2000’s. Productions were moved more so to Texas, Louisiana and Georgia mostly. What people factually don’t know, most would just assume and spread assumptions into a narrative that “You have to move to LA to become a ‘Movie Star’ in that kind of business.”

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Justin P. Slaughter and I am an American Actor and Producer at IAJ Media. I’m known for notable films 2019 “90 Feet From Home”, 2021 “Meteor” 2022 “Egress” and upcoming 2025 Crime Drama Romance “Love & Other Crimes”, upcoming 2025 Thriller “Mrs. Missing” and upcoming 2025 Sci-Fi Suspense “A Light In The Ether”. Others may know me from my contributions in 2 Marvel Cinematic Universe films that’s been added in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Wikipedia. Currently the IAJ Media team and I are partnered with a few other companies around the world to produce 3 Tv Pilots that are in Vertical Short format; we are currently in Pre Production.

This year has been incredibly productive for myself. 3 Films coming out this year and I’m Casting Co-Producing 3 Pilot Verticals while also working my Health & Fitness genre career and keeping my personal life afloat.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My late mother and late father always believed I was destined to be more than average when it came to potential and building connections with others. They knew I was destined to always want to test my limits and try to break past them. I never doubted them but I didn’t know when that opportunity would come.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
When I lost both of my parents. First it was my father, felt like 40% of me went with him and then my mother; felt like that remainder 60% went with her. I felt like an empty shell and as life kept going on for everyone, I felt like it froze for me. I felt like Bill Murray in “Groundhogs Day but in the worst possible way. I actually did give up though. I lost site of everything. I was very vulnerable, very broken and dismantled. Maybe a year and a half I was stagnant.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me believe it or not is the real me. I just want to speak life into as many people as possible and use my platform to tell the good news about my lord and savior Jesus Christ. Sometimes or maybe a lot of times the private me isn’t always the real me because some people don’t want to be uplifted, some people don’t want to be inspired. Some people just want to stay stagnant and have the “Woe Is Me” mentality so sometimes I catch myself going with the flow with them instead of challenging them which is actually wrong of me and I should stop that.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Justin was very big on showing Grace, Mercy and Forgiveness through any every calamity he has been through. He never let nothing bad stop him from excelling; he probably hit a roadblock but he knew how to pivot very well. He loved and valued God, his family and life more than anything.
