Brittany Greenwood of Fort Myers-North Ft Myers on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Brittany Greenwood. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Brittany, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I laughed and felt proud all at once when I got the email saying Brittany’s Bamboo Barn was selected as one of House Beautiful’s Best Home Shops of 2025. At first, I thought it had to be a scam! But it was real, and that recognition made every 18-hour, 7-day workweek, the stain in my hair, and the no-vacation grind feel completely worth it.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Brittany, and together with my husband Jeffrey, we are the heart behind Brittany’s Bamboo Barn in North Fort Myers, Florida. What started as my love for rescuing and restoring vintage rattan, bamboo, and coastal treasures has grown into a 10-acre destination for design lovers looking for one-of-a-kind pieces with Old Florida charm. We’re expanding our workshop to take on more custom projects breathing new life into pieces that might otherwise be discarded and bringing them back to their vintage glory.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Honestly, I think I saw myself clearly before anyone else did. I’ve always had a vision for what I wanted to create, even when it felt impossible or out of reach. My husband Jeffrey has been my biggest cheerleader and steady support, but what he really did was push me toward the version of myself I already knew was there. He gave me the confidence to chase what I could already see, and together we made it real.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I don’t have the ‘give up’ bone in my body, but Hurricane Ian tested me. We stayed on the property with our animals and business, listening as 155 mph winds tore the roof off the Bamboo Barn. For a moment, it felt like everything I had worked for was gone. But within two days Jeffrey had a roofing crew here, and four weeks later the Barn had a new roof. He looked at me and said, ‘we got this’ and we did.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely, what you see online is exactly who I am in real life. I don’t believe in faking it, because that’s just living a lie. I’ve always been a firm believer in the phrase, ‘Be yourself, everyone else is taken.’ My business, my brand, and my life all thrive on authenticity, and I think that’s why people connect with me they know it’s real.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
YES. Two weeks before Hurricane Ian, my phone rang and I answered, ‘This is Brittany.’ The woman on the other end introduced herself as an interior designer from Palm Beach and the Bahamas. I thought I heard her say Amanda, but wasn’t sure. So I asked, probably a little too bluntly, ‘Who?’ She replied, ‘This is Amanda Lindroth.’ My jaw dropped—I actually blurted out, ‘Shut the F up, is this a joke?’ She laughed, and I literally danced over to my assistant screaming, ‘It’s AMANDA LINDROTH!’ From that moment on we became friends, and she sparked something in me that made me realize just maybe I was doing something right and on the path of building something bigger.
