Mrs. Sarah Schultz shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Sarah , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Volunteering at Aimees Farm Animal Sanctuary in Queen Creek, AZ. My family and I sponsor some of the animals that reside there. They all have a special story to tell, whether they were rescued from slaughter or hoarding situations. There is so much peace on the farm. My favorite is the fall in the evenings there.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Sarah Schultz and I am from Dallas, TX. I have lived in Arizona since 2006. My husband and I have an online store, Gravedirt clothing, that has everything from serial killer merchandise to your favorite slashers. We have a production company that solely focuses on independent horror films, Mort House Films. You can follow our Facebook, tik tok and Instagram pages. We have been joining a local horror market, The Creative Funhouse, where we showcase items from a store that are up to purchase. We have been shooting our daughter Khloe’s first film, Skinwalker in the Woods, a peanuts horror based comedy. Shes 13, and a young rising star.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I was on a reality show way back when. I realized how independence and freedom is truly important, and being able to do what you want without being watched or monitored constantly. I made my way to TMZ, and E! The Soup investigates during that time. I never took advantage of freedom again. I do however feel grateful for the industry professionals I met, lived with and hung out with. Everything has a rhyme and reason.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
I had my hand in Animal care recently as a “normie” job. I met some great people, but the working conditions were less to be desired and the control. Going to Aimee’s, and donating to charities for animals is better for me. I have an associates degree in mortuary science. I will never leave that field. That is my true calling besides being a business owner and actor. Live your passion. Life is too short.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
That every animal is a sentinent being. Before my vegan journey, which has been my new lifestyle the past 3 years, I said I love all animals, yet growing up in the south, I was used to eating fried chicken and catfish for example. You cannot say you love animals when you’re eating a baby cow. It doesn’t make sense and i know that now. All animals have feelings. The only difference is your perception.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What false labels are you still carrying?
What others think about me that don’t really know me. People that don’t know the real me and how they don’t matter. They’re not really my friends as they claimed. They want to pry and be nosy in the most sensitive part of my life. They only want to know the negative. They watch my socials. Those people can label me, but at the end of the day, I’ll be able to retire and not have to work again like they do. It’s called misery loves company. I will no longer attend their parties.
