Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Bridgette Murphy of Saint Louis City

Bridgette Murphy shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Bridgette , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Doing the things I absolutely love and doing the things that brings me the most fulfillment is where I tend to lose track of time; which are stepping into my dreams, watching my children grow up and learning. With these things I don’t look for time or even look for making time, the time always seems to be there moving continuously so I don’t look for it, it gets lost but in a good way. I see myself enjoying those aspects of my life and I’m able to see me and be proud and found!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello My name is Bridgette Murphy, the Sauce Queen and creative force behind BBQue Closet Collection a fashion-forward lifestyle brand built on boldness, fashion confidence, and expressive freedom. Be Beautifully You!

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
The most powerful feeling was teaching myself how to sew with that the pride and freedom of creating something with my own hands, which sparked the confidence to begin my fashion journey that has helped me tremendously mentally.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that held me back the most in my life is the fear of speaking up for myself. My voice was taken away from me at such an early age but at this age that I am now, I feel finally I’m heard and I can hear myself loud and clearly.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is the polished version; you know business professional but I do keep it Saucy! I am such a fun, free spirited person that loves to laugh. So with me you will get a little bit of both.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
My story being one of resilience and dedication—being a hardworking single mom who refuses to let challenges dim my light. Despite the demands of motherhood and life’s obstacles, I’ve stayed committed to my dreams, pushing forward with determination by finding balance between providing for my family and pursuing my passion, It showed strength, perseverance, and the belief that my goals were worth chasing. It was a journey of sacrifice, growth, and unstoppable drive to see the vision through.
