Meet Dani Regan

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dani Regan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Dani, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I think my resilience just comes from life itself. I’ve been very lucky to have had a wide mix of experiences to date — sports, music, university, travel, each of them have had their own way of teaching me something.

Life has a funny way of humbling you. You can be doing really well one moment and then the next, you’re knocked down. What I’ve learned is that falling isn’t the problem, it’s staying down that hurts you. Every time I’ve had a setback and trust me there have been many, I’ve tried to take something from it and stand back up a little stronger, or at least a little wiser.

So I wouldn’t say there’s one single source of resilience for me. It’s just come from living, learning, and accepting that the ups and downs are all part of it.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My journey with Danibydsgn, a business I started during a time of covid lockdown boredom was a mix of entertainment, curiosity and an outlet for my need for creativity, which then turned into a desire to build something meaningful. What began as a fun idea has grown into a global e-commerce business, and I feel so fortunate to connect with people all around the world every single day. I can honestly say that I love what I do.

What excites me most is that everything we create has meaning. Our custom jewelry, especially, has really struck a chord because each piece is unique and personal — it holds a story for the person who wears it. Knowing that something we design becomes such a special part of someone’s life never stops feeling amazing.

Right now, we’re expanding our jewelry range, this has been a grueling 12 months in the making and is something I’m really thrilled about and can not wait for the new release. We’ll have some exciting news to share soon on that front.

Beyond the jewelry itself, we’re also working on strengthening our overall branding and presence, making sure that Danibydsgn reflects not just products, but a whole experience. It’s an exciting time, and I can’t wait to see how we continue to grow and connect with more people in meaningful ways.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

This is an interesting question. When you own your own small business, you really do become the business. In my case, I’m hands-on with everything. I design all of our pieces myself, but because we’re a small business with limited resources, I’ve also had to learn every other part of the process. From finance and analytics, to website development, to social media and marketing, and even manufacturing. It’s all been a crash course. I engrave each jewelry piece in-house myself, and that alone was a huge learning journey.

If I had to name three qualities that have made the biggest impact for me, I’d say:

Determination – the ability to keep going even when it’s tough.

Being able to learn quickly – especially how different things connect, often in the tech space.

Comfort with tech and social media – for e-commerce, having at least a basic understanding of how these platforms work is absolutely essential.

For anyone starting out, my advice is simple: take it one step at a time. It’s so easy to feel overwhelmed when you look at the whole picture. Break it down, keep moving. And, even if you plan to outsource later, learn to do things yourself first. E-commerce is always changing, new tools, new platforms, new ways of reaching people. The more you understand the nuts and bolts yourself, the better prepared you’ll be to adapt and grow.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

We’re definitely open to collaboration opportunities. To be honest, we haven’t done a lot of that yet, but it’s something that’s been on our agenda for a while. I don’t have any set rules or preconceived ideas — I’m always open to having a chat and seeing where there might be a good fit.

Ideally, we’d love to collaborate with people or brands where there’s a chance for both sides to benefit. For us, that could mean bringing value through our strong social presence, while also learning and growing alongside the other party.
