We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Elias Azimi a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Elias, great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.
My parents played a big part in advising me to do what’s not comfortable whether it was doing the school play or trying something new, and that had a snow-ball effect while I was growing into an adult by naturally liking to jump at opportunity before other people. That turned into more long-term decisions and led to pulling the trigger on starting a digital marketing agency. Going along with that, I advise everyone to take a little risk sometimes when it comes to doing what they want, because there’s never a better time to do so. You can find a million excuses for not doing something and you’ll be right, but you won’t ever find the same satisfaction as saying you tried, even though it may not work out. Something that helps me sort out a good risky decision from a bad one is seeking advice from 1-2 very close people, and also imagining if that’s something your future self would condone doing if they were in the same position.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Prime Stratix started as some fun idea with my family friend. It was 2023 and lot’s of industries were slow, and so we decided to start something for ourselves rather than struggle to be employed, especially while I still had to focus on university. It started off as some small website and social media , but then we did some nice work for small clients here and there, got some kind reviews and saw the potential of doing digital marketing. Being a young Canadian and seeing the struggles of the job market really pushed me to go into a type of business that serves all types of industries, rather than depending on one market. Eventually our third founder joined our agency, and we formed a professional team ever since that point. I think the most exciting part about my job is how creative you get to be when working with a brand, we plan how to bring a brand more to life on the digital side, and we take a great pleasure when our clients see results of that creative process, whether it’s content, website design, ads, etc. The one thing I’d like readers to know about Prime Stratix is that it really treats every brand uniquely and with intense care, so we really want to find what makes your brand special to you and show that to the world.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think you have to be able to feel uncomfortable on the long-term when running a business from the ground-up. There will be months and even years of you feeling like nothing is happening, but as long as you’re vigilant of trends, learning properly, and looking to impress people more than your competitor, you’ll find some success, and then you start climbing the ladder. Take every tangible win you can when starting your service business. Secondly, you must have grit. Grit is the quality that will make you focus on growing your service business every single day. Whether it was a good day or horrible day, you have to be willing to see things through. If you don’t have grit, or capacity to put some effort on a daily basis, it’s not likely your business will be top-quality, let alone survive. Thirdly, gratefulness is also very key to me. Looking at your little accomplishments over small tasks and obstacles is also necessary to get you motivated to do more for your business. Looking at the bright side always helps when things go wrong, or slower than you expected. It’s so easy to get yourself down and convince yourself this isn’t working out, so don’t think like that. Take your wins with humble gratitude and push it forward. I list these 3 qualities because skill and knowledge will come with these qualities. There’s no use of skill and knowledge if you don’t have the tenacity to implement it every day

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
As a quickly growing agency in Mississauga, Ontario, we are always looking to make more connections whether in Canada or abroad with e-commerce brands, fitness facilities, jewelers, companies in the trades, etc.. We are actually working with one of the biggest gyms in Canada, The Mega Gym, and a Costco-partnered e-commerce brand, Smart Lite Fire. It’s also important to note that we are a proud Muslim marketing agency, and so we make sure our ideals are a good fit with those seeking to boost their brand online with us. If anyone is interested in reaching out to us for a free marketing consultation, they can find us at primestratix.com and book an online call!
