We were lucky to catch up with Geobirttie Wise-Odugu recently and have shared our conversation below.
Geobirttie, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My optimism stems from simply living life. I believe my ability to maintain a positive outlook in most situations is a gift from God. I’m often told that I have a natural ability to see the good in everything and everyone. I feel it takes to much energy to think and be negative. Life is to precious to live any other way.

I like to say, I turned a Life-Altering Diagnosis Into a Self-Care Movement
I’ve always been a girly girl. I love to smell amazing, look my best, and feel confident from the inside out. But over the years, I’ve learned that true beauty isn’t just about the glam — it’s about how you love and take care of yourself every single day.
My name is Geobirttie — but most people call me Gigi or Chyrell. I’m a professional makeup artist. I provide makeup services and classes offered through my business Brushes and Strokes by Chyrell. I’m also the creator/owner of Love Your Body by Gigi, my all-natural body, hair, and skincare brand.
Helping others feel beautiful, confident, and cared for is my passion — whether they’re in my makeup chair or using one of my handmade products at home.
“The Moment Everything Changed”
My journey took an unexpected turn in 2017 when I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. It was a moment that shook me to my core — but it also opened my eyes to something I had never fully considered before: the toxins and chemicals hidden in the products I used every day.
As I fought for my health, I started to take a hard look at what I was putting on my body. That’s when I began experimenting with my own formulas — clean, nourishing, and safe alternatives made with ingredients I could trust. What started as a simple body butter in my kitchen grew into something so much more.
Out of that deeply personal journey, Love Your Body by Gigi was born. Today, my brand offers a growing line of 14 handcrafted, all-natural products — including body and hair care, vegan lipsticks and glosses, and handmade earrings. Every product is created with love, intention, and a mission to help others feel good in their own skin.
I want people to know that self-care isn’t selfish — it’s necessary. That’s why I created this line: to encourage others to treat themselves with the same love, softness, and attention they give to everyone else.

To help you look, feel, and smell amazing — from the inside out.
This work is deeply personal for me. It’s about reclaiming your confidence. It’s about healing. It’s about choosing better — for your body, your mind, and your soul.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most important qualities, skills and or areas of knowledge for me would be; Effective communication, problem-solving & adaptability, industry expertise.
My advice for anyone starting their journey is simple: Research, research, research!
Dive deep into your market and truly understand the products or services you offer. Knowing every detail about your business is crucial. Don’t forget to stay on top of any legal requirements and updates to keep everything above board.
Investing in a business coach or mentor can make a huge difference — their guidance is invaluable. Be ready to work harder for yourself than you ever would for someone else. Stay open to constructive criticism, as it helps you grow. Mastering customer service is imperative as well.
And finally, learn when it’s time to pivot. Flexibility and adaptability are key to long-term success.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful lesson my parents taught me was the importance of leading by example. They showed me how generosity, a strong work ethic, and genuine care for others are foundational to living a meaningful and fulfilling life. Through their actions, I learned that success isn’t just about hard work, but also about giving back and approaching every relationship with kindness and love. Their example continues to inspire me in both my personal and professional journey.
