Hi Quan, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
What a great question, I believe that I am being called to do real estate. I believe I can use my resources and tools to provide housing. I’ve been afraid of stepping into that field for a very long time. We actually just started our own business, J and Q holdings. We have a promising vision for our son’s future. With the support of my husband, I know we can do anything. This is a very exciting time as we just obtained another property in Pennsylvania. I’m being called to try something new that’ll become generational wealth!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Quan Michelle, a plus size model. I work in logistics and are a mother to a five year old son named Prince. I am married to a photographer John Ellis. We recently started our own business, called J and Q holdings! This is a very exciting time for our family. We hope to flip homes and provide reasonable rent for families. As most of you know, I have been modeling for 15 years. I am looking to step more into the videography side of modeling. With the ever changing climate of social media I feel like this is the correct step to take. Some of my hobbies include gardening, gaming, and spending time with my family. I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and moved to Brooklyn, New York at 20. I am currently 30 years old and just getting started. I want to thank everybody that supports my journey whether new or old I appreciate it all!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
When I gave birth to my son, Prince Monté, it truly changed how I viewed the world. My son has taught me to be more kind with myself. To dance, even if everyone is looking. Prince taught me patience, vulnerability, and freedom. Giving birth to a child is a monumental moment in a woman’s life. From that moment on someone you created is relying on you. That can be very intimidating and scary. I found strength in myself that I did not know I had mentally emotionally and spiritually! Unfortunately, I did not have the support of my parents in the delivery room. It made me stronger.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing, to my younger self, it would be, be true to yourself and stay strong. People who judge you for being yourself are insecure with themselves.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say stability, consistency, integrity, loyalty, respect, support, people/humanity and family matter most to me. I am not only a talented model and a hardworking mom, but also someone you can always confide in. I wear many hats friend, mentor, sister and still show up with love, grace, and dedication in everything I do!

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I’m gone, I hope people tell a story of persistence and dedication. I hope that they tell the world how I never gave up against all odds. I hope that my legacy is filled with inspiration, love, and encouragement. I always aim to help others and hope that those stories outlive me. I hope my content continues to inspire other people to chase their dreams long after I’m gone. I was born into poverty and worked extremely hard for everything I have. I want my story to be one of Baltimore’s fashion legends that made it!
