An Inspired Chat with Katelyn Osborne of Greenville, NC

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Katelyn Osborne. Check out our conversation below.

Katelyn, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Lately I find myself laughing the most and having a true joy seeing my son playing, smiling, and laughing while spending time together. When people say that a toddler’s smile is infectious, believe them. Today, he was just seeing a new show called “Bad Dinosaurs” and absolutely could not stop with the giggles- seeing their movements and overexaggerated faces and hearing their roars was just something special for him to witness.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I am Katelyn- the creative behind Centerpiece Marketing. Founded in 2019, this agency has worked with clients all over the US and Canada. Work for me includes anything and everything from creating logos, advertising materials, website development, ads on Google, social media content creation, blogging, and press releases.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
As a young adult, I feel like I am still learning how to accept new ideas and adapt accordingly to a changing world and in different locations- from eastern NC to south FL. As a new mother, I have a brand-new perspective on priorities. My son is my focal point and has made me more ambitious. Seeing how the economy has shifted over years, I realize the value of dollar does not go as far. Needing more revenue, I am now seeking bigger campaigns, bigger brand deals, providing full media kits, and more extensive marketing projects.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Being left by my son’s father was very wounding for me. I spent my pregnancy alone in Florida. Sending updates with no response back with devastating. I went into motherhood knowing that I could only rely on myself and that my responsibilities were growing. My child even before birth and now here beside me has healed not just that loneliness and abandonment wound from the man I was set to marry but every other wound that I was ever scarred from in my teens and adult life. My son has filled my heart with so much love and joy. Nothing seems awful and nothing feels like it could break me or wound me as long as I have my son and our health and happiness.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of myself is the real me. I don’t try to have some alter ego therefore I don’t think I really have a secondary self. It would take too much time to make up and would be exhausting pretending to be something/someone I am not. (And why would I be different versions and confuse my child?) I live life unfiltered and think that authenticity is an absolute must. From my accent that people comment on to the fits I wear and the way I navigate and contribute, it is all the same whether in town, in the car, on a beach, behind closed doors, or at home. Katelyn is *proudly* authentic.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes! I am secure in my best and confident in my abilities. And as a human, we all need support sometimes. Words of encouragement can go a long way. There is a sense of pride in my work at Centerpiece Marketing and the Google reviews I receive are special and greatly appreciated. The word praise is too strong of a word for this question. I do not require praise. My God is who is worthy of praise!
