An Inspired Chat with Courtney Roberts of Baltimore City

Courtney Roberts shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Courtney, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me is a blend of balance and purpose. I start my mornings with intention, often reviewing my planner, working out, or taking a quiet moment before diving into a full day. My professional time is divided between teaching nursing students, caring for patients as a nurse practitioner, and managing my businesses in healthcare and wellness. No two days look exactly the same, but what’s consistent is my commitment to helping others grow, whether it’s a student grasping a new concept, a patient finding healing, or a client feeling renewed through wellness services. Evenings are for family, reflection, and preparing for the next day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Courtney Roberts, FNP-BC, MSN, RN, and a soon-to-be Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My journey has been guided by a passion for healthcare, education, and entrepreneurship. I serve as a nursing professor, a family nurse practitioner, and the founder of Cure Medspa & Wellness, a space where aesthetics, wellness, and mental health intersect.

What makes my brand unique is the integration of science, compassion, and empowerment. At my MedSpa, I take a holistic approach that goes beyond the surface, recognizing that true wellness means addressing both physical and mental well-being. By combining evidence-based care with services that build confidence and nurture self-esteem, I help clients feel seen, valued, and transformed. Whether through teaching, clinical practice, or business leadership, my goal remains the same: to inspire growth and well-being while leaving a meaningful impact on my community

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I used to believe that everything I wanted was something I needed. Over time, life taught me the difference. I realized that true needs, like health, love, stability, and purpose, are often far more valuable than fleeting wants. That shift in mindset shaped the way I pursue goals today: I focus less on instant gratification and more on building a life that aligns with my values, contributes to others, and creates lasting fulfillment. This perspective continues to guide both my personal choices and the way I lead in my professional roles.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could tell my younger self something, it would be to be kinder to myself when I make mistakes. I would remind myself that mistakes are not failures but stepping stones, and that ultimately everything works out the way it’s meant to. Resilience and adaptability are what carry you through life’s challenges. We all stumble, but it’s how you recover that truly defines your strength and greatness.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is the real me, but it’s a focused version. I live my life with intention, so what people see publicly is still authentic, t’s just the part of me that aligns with my purpose, my work, and my values. In private, I may be more vulnerable or more playful, but at my core I remain the same: compassionate, resilient, and deeply invested in helping others. I don’t believe in creating a separate persona for the world; instead, I believe in showing up as myself consistently, while understanding that different spaces call for different expressions of who I am.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Yes, the public version of me is the real me, but it’s a focused version. I live my life with intention, so what people see publicly is still authentic,it’s just the part of me that aligns with my purpose, my work, and my values.
