We recently had the chance to connect with Brooklyn Barwick and have shared our conversation below.
Brooklyn, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I wake up, drink a smoothie or energy drink. Check social media, emails, and catch up on work. Then I go straight to boxing or strength and conditioning
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Brooklyn “THE BIG DEAL” Barwick, a rising pro boxer out of Manhattan, NYC—born and raised in Orange County, CA. After two years grinding in influencer leagues like those tied to KSI and Barstool, I turned pro with a bang: a first-round TKO debut in Mexico on March 1, 2025, and I’m now undefeated with all KOs. I’ve fought across the U.S., Europe, Mexico, and South America, competing between bantamweight and featherweight while chasing a world title.
Boxing’s my fire right now, but I keep the lights on with crypto ventures, cannabis advocacy, and social media management for brands. Lately, I’m laser-focused on peak health and my journey converting to Orthodox Judaism. As the only active female Jewish pro boxer in the U.S., I’m here to break barriers and throw hands.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I first felt powerful when I was a cheerleader and gymnast first learning how to tumble on the spring floor. I was around the age of 4 when I started flipping. I then realized how my body is a powerhouse within that moment and that I should take care of it always
This mindset went into sports and all business ventures going forward – giving me the strength to never back down and to push through.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
A year ago, on Christmas Eve and the first night of Hanukkah, I faced a brutal low— I was cyber bullied, mocked, and physically attacked on the streets by people I considered friends and colleagues. Betrayed and broken, I nearly ended my life that night, feeling my story had no more pages.
But then, I landed with my current boxing team, who pushed me to the peak of my physical abilities; Which eventually helped me mentally. Mentored by my friend and fellow boxer Nisa Rodriguez, I realized this wasn’t the end—it was time to level up. I went pro, and now I’m on an undefeated streak, proving my story’s far from over. It’s just beginning
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
No, “The Big Deal” isn’t the real me. I’m Brooklyn Barwick, a young woman from California chasing my dreams. The Big Deal is a bold online persona I created to shield my mental health and true self from internet scrutiny. I’m working on balancing the two.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel at peace when I’m boxing or dancing because it chills out my hyperactive brain
