Mia Suzanne Walker of Houston on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Mia Suzanne Walker and have shared our conversation below.

Mia Suzanne, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
My days at the recording studio always make me lose track of time. I can disappear in there for hours, which gets expensive fast LOL, but it feels like it’s just been minutes. Songwriting is also like that. I get wrapped up in it and don’t even realize hours have gone by.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Suzanne’s Band was created 8 years ago by myself, Mia Suzanne Walker, to produce and play music that existed outside of the confines of most genres and be “songs with heart” which is our company slogan. Currently we are about to release two Christmas songs in October 2025 and a new Country Pop album in early 2026.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My mentor and choir teacher Gail Land was a huge influence in my life. She taught us not only the fundamentals of music but enjoying the variety and performance of it and the bond of doing that as a team.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Believe it or not, the fear of public performance. As a child I would get sick to my stomach on show days. Now it’s more like the first day of school jitters especially when it’s a new gig I haven’t played before.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Definitely. It always cracks me up when I hand somebody my card and they say “oh, you look just like your picture”. I’m thinking how else would I look like? Guess there are some people who that doesn’t apply to.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I followed my dreams no matter how old I was, That I loved my family, friends and those I met. That I was able to leave a legacy of faith. hope and love and music and people could count on me being there when I was needed and able to help.
