An Inspired Chat with VanillaAíday Carter of Capital Hill

VanillaAíday Carter shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

VanillaAíday, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What battle are you avoiding?
The battle I’m avoiding currently would have to be the battle of my ego.. meaning I know there are things I need to do, get done “accomplish”; but I allow over thinking & anxiety to interfere too much at times. Causing tiffs in my progression moving forward.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello everyone!! My name is VanillaAíday Carter!! I’m a 29 year old model, pageant girl & all around creative/entrepreneur. My brand me!! It consists of all the things that make VanillaAíday; her. Whether that is beauty or transgender rights, modeling (etc.) my brand is a true show case of my authenticity. I’m not afraid to showcase the good the bad & the ugly. I don’t hide behind facades or a mask. I am always 1,000% my genuine self. Currently I’m working on a rebrand of myself, including image & overall entertainment/entrepreneurial skills. Finding things I actually like & am not just doing because I’m bored. Or because something seems theoretically interesting!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that most shaped how I see myself would have to be the relationship I have with my family. In the most respectful way, I love & adore them all deeply & dearly. But they taught me first at hand what it felt like to be abandoned, to feel neglected, to not be heard, not be seen for who and all that I was & still am becoming. They taught me how to love, because I never obtained that type of love from them. They taught me how to fight for what I believe in; because I had bo one to back me up or fully & wholly support and love on me the way I needed. They shaped the way I view connections. How because of them, I will always route for the underdog, because that’s all I’ve ever known; being the underdog. Most importantly, they shaped & molded a loving, nurturing, smart, intellectual, caring, outspoken, blunt, adaptable, emotionally stable, spiritually grounded, and GOD fearing woman who stand up for what/who she believes in. And fights for what is right. Not what is wanted. Regardless of the outcome.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Was there a time I almost gave up…?

Yes, when I was 10, 11, 15, 18, 19, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28. These all are the ages I felt I didn’t want to be on this Earth. Didn’t want to fight the fight, that I chose. Didn’t want to continue because I was weak minded & focused on the past and what didn’t workout for me, what didn’t happened. Who didn’t love me, who wasn’t there for me. But GOD kept pushing me, and also held me along those chaotic & tumultuous times.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
What do I believe is true but I can not prove..?

GOD. I’ve been through, seen so many amazingly horrific things. But I have always had a firm belief in GOD, but many turn away from religion. Were as I; I run towards it. Because with all that I have survived & been divinely protected & guided away from. Along with saved out of situations I surely should’ve died… GOD is the only answer, but no one can prove. Except with action.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think people will most misunderstood my passion/intensity about my legacy. It has never been easy being me, or walking in my shoes but I make it seem & appear seamlessly & effortless. But I struggle daily. I don’t speak on it a lot, but just know. Nothing I’ve ever had or done was handed to me without me putting in the work that needed to be implemented to achieve said goal.
