Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with g.e. moore of S. Suburbs

g.e. moore shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning g.e. , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
Surrounded by the sense and sounds of love and laughter as the children expressed their joy on a cold winter morning, delighted by the sight of the snow, and no, looking back, these things are best examined in hindsight, it seems, I recognize the bottomless feeling of a gnawing insecurity as I grew to consider if I was worthy of it all.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am g.e. moore, poet, author, artist. My work speaks to the truth of what it means to be alive during this Era of transition. I seek to connect the fading strings of a fast receding past with the determination of the present moment and the vibrant possibilities of the future. My Art evokes the mythologies crafted through my bloodlines determination to survive. This vision culminates in my recently published novel, Bealz: Prince of the Southside.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
My need to please allowed me to slip into the background unseen on many occasions, trusting in my chameleon-like nature to hide myself in an attempt to avoid scrutiny. Now, too late for such things. I’ve been laid bare and there is no longer reason to hide who I am.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Most definitely. Even as I struggled to understand what it means, surrender sometimes slips inside and settles in with a smile, an unheard sigh as we give up on ourselves. The fight to right oneself amidst such uncertainty can be overwhelming. But certainly worth it.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I will find purpose in my pursuit of truth. My objective reality can either be characterized as the ultimate belief in myself or the absolute evidence of my insanity.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Granted large sums of money, I felt more empty and unfulfilled than before, when we laughed at our circumstances and dared one another to keep going in spite of the external obstacles and opinions sharpened against us
