We’re looking forward to introducing you to Tre’La Peters. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Tre’La, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
One of the things I’m most proud of building, that most people never see, is the foundation of resilience and systems behind my work. Whether it’s in wellness, business, or serving clients, I’ve built structures that allow people to feel supported and cared for—long before they ever meet me. For example, I’ve designed processes, resources, and personal rituals that keep me grounded, so that when I show up for others, I’m consistent and reliable. It’s not flashy, but it’s the unseen discipline, compassion, and preparation that makes the visible impact possible. I take pride in knowing that what others don’t see is actually what keeps everything else thriving
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Tre’La Peters, and I’m the founder of Mama T Herbs, a holistic wellness brand that weaves together ancestral wisdom, modern herbalism, and birthwork support. I’m a birth doula, placenta encapsulation specialist, and wellness coach, and I’ve dedicated my journey to helping families—especially in the Black community—reconnect with holistic ways of healing through food, herbs, mindfulness, and empowered birthing experiences.
What makes Mama T Herbs unique is that it’s more than a business—it’s a mission. I carry forward the legacy of the women who came before me, blending practical healing tools with deep spiritual care. From yoni steams to herbal remedies, from educational classes to my upcoming book Fearless Birthing, my work is about creating safe, affirming, and transformative spaces for women and families.
Right now, I’m excited to be expanding Mama T Herbs through wellness classes, a Holistic Doula Course launching in 2026, and collaborations that bring herbal healing and doula care into more homes and communities. My story is rooted in resilience and service, and I’m passionate about making sure that every person I support feels seen, cared for, and empowered.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that most shaped how I see myself is the one I have with my grandmother. She always thought so highly of me—even before I really knew who I was. As a teenager, I misinterpreted her high standards and strong presence and believed she disliked me. But later in my spiritual journey, I realized that wasn’t true at all. She saw greatness in me before I could see it in myself, and her belief planted seeds of confidence and resilience that continue to guide me today. Looking back, I understand her love was showing up as vision, and it shaped the way I carry myself, my purpose, and the work I do now.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that has held me back the most has been twofold—first, the fear of being alone or stepping on toes while navigating and speaking my truth, and second, the fear of being a single mom. Both have, at times, made me shrink myself or second-guess decisions that were actually aligned with who I truly am. But through my personal and spiritual growth, I’ve learned that those fears were really mirrors—showing me where I needed to trust myself, my voice, and my capacity to stand strong, even when it felt uncomfortable. Facing those fears has helped me step into my power with more courage and authenticity.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Hell yes—the public version of me is the real me. What you see is what you get. The work I do, the way I speak, the energy I bring—it all comes from an authentic place. I don’t create a persona to sell my brand or to show up for my community; I show up as Tre’La. The same woman who’s walking her spiritual journey, raising her kids, and building a legacy is the woman you see online and in my work. Of course, some parts of my life stay private for my own peace, but the values, passion, and purpose people connect with are 100% real.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What light inside you have you been dimming?
The light I’ve been dimming is my vision to expand. For a long time, I kept my dreams and ideas smaller than they really were, either out of fear of being too much or worrying about how others would receive them. Deep down, I’ve always carried a vision for myself, my family, and my community that is so much bigger—expanding into new spaces, creating opportunities, and leaving a lasting legacy. I’ve realized that dimming that light doesn’t serve me or anyone else, and now I’m committed to letting those visions shine fully.
