Dr. Samantha Smith PT shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Samantha, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
100% integrity. What you do when no one is watching says so much about who you are. Choosing an honest and ethical path in life is very important to me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Dr. Samantha Smith. I am a physical therapist and knee replacement specialist. I am the founder and owner of succeedcourses.com where I teach online courses for knee replacement preparation and recovery. I have created 5 courses and 3 exercise classes that individuals around the world can take to prepare for and/or recover from a knee replacement surgery. I also provide educational videos on Instagram, tiktok and YouTube. I spend the majority of my day supporting my clients in my online courses by answering any questions they have and making fun videos for social media to grow my brand!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband! He has been the biggest supporter of mine and the person who never judges me. He doesn’t care if I fail or succeed. I had this idea of creating courses and starting my own brand – he never doubted me or said one negative thing. That means a lot when you are starting a new business. A lot of people will pick out all the reasons why you shouldn’t do it.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
One of the hardest parts of starting a business is just doing it. If you give up or doubt yourself, you’ll definitely never be successful. There were a million times when I almost gave up. I started building a social media presence first before releasing any courses. Social media does not pay (in the beginning) you so you can to give up a lot of your free time to build your brand. That is hard to do.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
As a Dallas Mavericks fan, I always admire Dirk Nowitzki. He always took pay cuts while playing in the NBA so the rookies could have more funding. He was loyal to Dallas while playing with the Mavs, even if he was offered more money to go another team. He is always very professional and grateful for his career. He is always a very humble person despite being one of the best players in the NBA.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
If you focus on helping people and being nice, success will come!
