Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Daltyn Emrich of Harrisonburg, VA

We recently had the chance to connect with Daltyn Emrich and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Daltyn, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
In my own opinion I feel a lot of people these days struggle with general happiness. Social media has allowed people to over analyze others based off a picture or video, based off likes and streams. Almost seems like today’s generation would rather fake a happy lifestyle for followers than to actually find happiness in life.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Daltyn Emrich, I’m a full time professional recording artist. I work for a company called CMV (CrimsonMuzik Vocalz) we do vocal work for schools, sports teams, cheerleading squads, etc. I’ve been working with this company since 2016 and over the last 2 years I’ve been able to take on my own music career full time because of the financial and other freedoms that have come along with this business. I have music out on all platforms just search up the name, “Emrich” and I’ll pop up.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I think the first time I felt any sense of power from my accomplishments would have to be from last year with how much I made off my voice in such little time. I made the most I ever made from vocal work last year even through some personal complications i had to deal with and that was in only 7 months of work from something that was blessed to me in this lifetime. I don’t have a normal lifestyle, I get to do what many people wish they could do instead of getting up and going to a place they hate for 12 hours a day. So with that being said I think my biggest accomplishment thus far would be just being able to do what I do from wherever I want at anytime. The freedoms that come with what I do are worth so much more than I could explain.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I feel like as an artist we come across different situations in life that are hard to control and express properly. When nobody listens to your pain or voice, those dark thoughts start to pour in from time to time. I remember a couple times I almost said forget this and gave up on my journey. For some reason I was always drawn back in like it was a magnet pulling me to it with extreme forces I couldn’t ever ignore it. Music has always been in my soul, I was born to be heard. I feel like my music has helped people along their own trials and tribulations. Just knowing someone else is out there feeling how you feel can help someone in a big way.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I don’t hide a thing, what you see is what you get. When I started rapping I decided I didn’t want some gimmick name to go by, I wanted nothing but authenticity when you heard of me so I chose my last name Emrich as my stage name. Everything I speak about on a beat is pure real life situations I’ve been through myself or are currently going through at the time I write. I’ve never been one to fake it till you make it so I’d rather people get the real me and decide if they like it or not. I won’t change who I am for a check or anymore amount of life and views.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I feel like I am doing what I was born to do, like I am fulfilling my purpose. If I were to do what I was told to do I’d have a regular 9-5 job, revert to the old American dream aspect of life. Ima go getter, a hustler for life, and I think I’ve shown that to the fullest of my abilities. There’s not another me on this earth and there’s nobody that can do what I do the way that I do it. God has given me a chance to really understand my destiny in this lifetime and I really think the path that I’ve chosen to take has really been such an amazing life to live.
