Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Amanda Erixon of Stockholm/Sweden

We recently had the chance to connect with Amanda Erixon and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’m reading an interesting book right now that’s bringing me inspiration and motivation to stay creative. I’m discovering some truths about what have kept me from listening to my new ideas and also that I really am a devoted storyteller.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a Swedish actress and performer based in Stockholm. Singing has always been a big part of my life and through music I found my way to the theater.
In 2017 I completed the 2-year conservatory program at Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City. I have also studied musical theater at Kulturama in my hometown of Stockholm as well as a film and television intensive at the Art of Acting Studio in Los Angeles. My most recent performance credits include Klara in The Artist’s Wife, Ronja in Ronja the Robber’s Daughter, and Maria in Twelfth night.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The perfectionist procrastinator part of me for sure! It made me work hard and reach good results to some degree but it kept me from sharing all my stories so now I’m ready to throw it out the window.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I think times of suffering teaches you to re-evaluate what success looks like for you and that goals and dreams will change over time to fit new circumstances in your career and your life. Our growth as humans is a lifelong journey and it’s an interesting discovery to make.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, definitely! I think one motto that I try to live by is to be authentic and real in every aspect of my life.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
Take chances in life. It’s important for me to do what excites me and also challenges me a little bit. I wanna stay curious and be on my toes every now and then.
