Rakia’ Taylor’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Rakia’ Taylor and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Rakia’, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What battle are you avoiding?
Learning to continue my dream with no support.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Rakia’ Taylor aka Ho0dHippie owner of Ho0dHippieArt and Jewels Garden. I am a magic mystery. I put symbols of sacred knowledge, numbers and mysticism in my art, clothes and music I create. Everything I create is a one of one and each piece is especially made for whoever it lands on to purchase.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a sheltered child who was told being a artist was unrealistic and then I was a soldier that had to blend in with everyone else.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Everytime I feel like my dreams aren’t paying off fast enough I have to remember why I started.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
There aren’t jobs that can support your bills.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Caring about anyone’s opinion about my dreams and aspirations
