Story & Lesson Highlights with taidyn of missoula, mt

taidyn shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi taidyn, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
javvy protein coffee, and finding other small artists on tiktok.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
i’m taidyn, an AuDHD independent artist based in missoula, MT. i started writing to get the noise out of my head and cope with alexithymia, since i couldn’t always tell what I was feeling. songwriting became how I learned to process my emotions, and now it’s my purpose and lifeline, and the only time i feel understood. i’m inspired by artists across all genres and decades, predominantly 90’s and 2000’s pop, pop/rock, pop/punk, punk rock, grunge rock, hard rock, and numetal. artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and Avril Lavigne have shaped me and the backbone of my writing and music, while bands like Nirvana, DC Talk, Thousand Foot Krutch, Hole, Green Day, and Sum 41 inspired different parts of my sound and helped me shape it into something that feels uniquely me.

my debut single “good liar” drops oct 3rd, and is available to presave now. it’s a messy, diy pop/rock track with pop-punk and post-punk influence, made with lots of love, 3 years of precision and fine tuning, and of course my blood, sweat and tears.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
i now believe that there is no such thing as being “too much,” “too dramatic,” or “too sensitive.”

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
i have two: imperfection and failure. for years i was terrified of the numbers on my posts not matching the effort i put in. but working as a loan officer taught me it’s just numbers in, numbers out. If you keep showing up consistently, the numbers eventually even out. now i apply that philosophy to music and content. even if I keep getting 300–1k views for a while, I won’t beat myself up. because I know with consistent effort, the views, followers, and engagement will increase.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
deebee. she’s my baby blanket and realest friend. through all 6 states, all 14 moves, every single sickness, bad day, good cry, heartbreak, and night of sleep, she has been right there by my side for almost 21 years.

my friends are also acutely aware that despite my addiction to solitude and my sony xm4s, I care about them more than life itself, and sometimes, even more than music.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
wasting time and worrying about saving money at the cost of making memories.
