Story & Lesson Highlights with Val Quinones of South Florida

We recently had the chance to connect with Val Quinones and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Val, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
I believe Integrity is important. When you are honest with yourself regardless if others are watching or not, You can bypass a lot of comparison and distraction from what you are truly called to be, do and have for that moment. You are also able to be honest with others. In turn those people who truly resonate with what you stand for will be revealed.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Val Quinones, I am a healer at heart and creative by nature. I work in the holistic industry as a licensed massage therapist with a background in the performing arts. Dance specifically. Something I’ve been pursuing is creating a space that brings healing through creative movement. In the process of exploring the many layers of who I am, I’ve learned that its okay to be multifaceted, and curious about how you can combine your different gifts or talents. It allows space to experiment and birth something new. It’s innovative. The different versions of ourselves we come to is what makes our story unique. We all walk many paths as we evolve. I’m not who I was 5 years ago nor should I want to be, or even a year ago. I want to grow and transform. I transmute old energy and experiences into wisdom and creation. My ultimate goal in everything I do is to inspire elevation in others. leading by example instead of expectation.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Who was I before the world told me who I had to be…great question. I was a child with a vivid imagination. I enjoyed painting, writing, dancing. Really just making something out of what I had in front of me. My make believe game was strong. I could build something out of what others may have saw as nothing. I could see it and expand on it. I was extremely adventurous and out spoken. If I was told I couldn’t do something I did it just to say I did it lol. The challenge motivated me like fuel to a fire.

What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
After a major fail, I’ve learned to shift my thoughts from why did I fail to what is the experience revealing?
What can I work on refining about my character or the plan. Failing doesn’t have to be the end of a thing, It can be a moment to go back and check your foundation. The “Why”. Why did you start that thing in the first place? I find that when the reason is bigger than yourself, the motivation is different and the experience stretches you. You may have to pause for a moment or pace yourself but you keep going. When your “Why” is strong enough you can rebuild with experience and avoid the same mistakes. You begin to build from a deeper understanding of what works and what doesn’t. In the process you fail forward and gain wisdom. Therefore the foundation is more solid than before. So with that revelation I don’t fail but I move forward with insight. That insight I want to pass on to others. Sharing what I learn in life is some of my “WHY”.
Through this lens I can see failure as a teacher.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to believe that you can only be one thing in life. It’s nothing wrong with focusing on one path in regards to your career. However, that type of thinking can be limiting expansion. Life is full of surprises and seasons change. Those changes will require us to adapt in order for us to thrive. My faith has allowed me to see things from a broader perspective. My faith says to be fruitful and multiply. I believe we are created in the likeness of the Most High. Who is the creator of all creation. God created many things, people, animals, the ocean, trees, etc. If we are made in His image, we too can create many things, many opportunities, many relationships. We too can be unlimited in what we cultivate here on earth as long as it falls in alignment with his divine assignment.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
If I laid down my name, role and possessions today, My Faith and relationship with God would remain.
