Roman Anthony Pantaleion shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Roman Anthony, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: When was the last time you felt true joy?
Recently I moved to Paris, France. About a week and a half ago. It’s given me so much joy. I get to walk along the Seine River and admire its beauty and feel the creative energy. I smile everyday, and I know everyday won’t be perfect or sunny, but I am in a place mentally, emotionally and physically that gives me joy.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi Canvas Rebel Readers!
My name is Roman Anthony Pantaleion and I am a creative Renaissance man. I say that because I have had so many careers I can’t keep up. I’ve been an actor since 2010 appearing in tv and film. I’ve done some modeling work for NYFW trunk shows, I’ve released music as a singer and have been a hairstylist for several years. The last two years I spent living in London to obtain my degree in Creative Writing & Journalism. I am a registered journalist with the National Union of Journalist in the U.K. and will soon be releasing my first book, ‘Love Stories: Pvris’ this winter.
With all of my experiences I am also going into the field of teaching. I think it’s important to share and pass on what we learn and help others grow. I’ve created my own media site, SaveurMedia.com covering a range of topics that I hope to grow into sometime amazing.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I think I was always an artist. I was shy, but I always expressed interests in music and acting. Over the years I’ve tried to maintain who I am. I think there are so many outside forces, including social media that will have us to believe the grass is greener if we drink the cool-aid but if you really think about it it’s so much better being unique and an individual. Be who you’re meant to be by silencing the outside noise. Remember you’re uniquely you, and was made to be just that. Being anyone else is a faux pas.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me resilience, it taught me faith and believing in my self when the chips were down. Success is great, but you learn that sometimes the journey itself is most rewarding. You go through so much and then realize that the journey gave you more than the actual reward.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Black Americans. You can travel the world and see their culture and swag represented and I think as the architects of that culture they should be protected.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Overthinking and doing things that do not serve me. I would only do things that made me happy and that helped others.
