Story & Lesson Highlights with Samanah Duran of California

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Samanah Duran. Check out our conversation below.

Samanah, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What battle are you avoiding?

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Samanah Duran, founder of BEYOUROWN, a platform and dedicated to championing female leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs as they carve out their own unapologetic paths to success. Over the years, I’ve been deeply invested in creating spaces where women can not only share their voices but also amplify them—whether that’s through collaboration, raising brand visibility, or building sustainable business strategies.

Right now, I’m stepping into a new chapter with the launch of Siren Grounds, a female-first coffee company designed to be so much more than just a coffee brand. For me, Siren Grounds is about creating a caffeine experience that helps us to really take a look at the way we consume caffeine and how it’s used to fuel our day. From its wellbeing design to its ethos, every detail has been crafted with the modern women in mind—women who are from new mothers to fresh graduates—and women fearlessly building their own careers/businesses.

What makes both BEYOUROWN and Siren Grounds special is that they are unapologetic extensions of my personal journey—rooted in resilience, driven by purpose, and committed to empowering women to own their space and thrive. I believe in building not just businesses, but movements that inspire women to rise, connect, and lead boldly.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
In my experience, what breaks the bonds between people is a lack of consistency—when loyalty falters, when actions don’t align with words, and when presence becomes conditional. Trust doesn’t erode overnight; it fades when reliability is replaced by unpredictability and inconsistency.

What restores those bonds is unwavering consistency—showing up, time and time again, with loyalty that runs through and through. It’s in the steady actions, the follow-through, and the commitment that proves itself without needing to be spoken. Because it’s not the grand gestures that keep people connected—it’s the rhythm of loyalty and the reliability of presence. When you’re consistent, you’re not just trusted—you’re unforgettable.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Last year, I went through one of the biggest personal shifts of my life—and it was brutal to navigate. I lost so much confidence in myself and in what I was building. For a while, I let external voices get louder than my own, and in that noise, I lost sight of who I truly was. There was a point where I almost gave up. Almost.

But what pulled me back was the reminder that my vision wasn’t meant to be validated by others—it was meant to be owned by me. When you’re not in alignment with your core self, you can find yourself accepting business connections you’d normally turn away from—entertaining voices of those who don’t have your best intensions at heart and working on professional collaborations that don’t align with your values, just to fill the void and make your self feel some what “productive and successful.”

I now know it’s a dangerous space, because desperation can make compromise feel like strategy. But the truth is, forced alignments never build anything sustainable—they only pull you further from your own vision. Real power comes from holding your standard, even in your lowest moments.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Luckily, with my new YouTube channel—a platform I once shied away from—I finally get to show up as me. No filters, no facades. Just the real, raw version of my journey as a mother and a founder, building a business from the ground up.

I feel fortunate to share what it truly takes to grow a lean start-up with my coffee Company Siren Grounds—not the glossy highlight reel, but the grit, the setbacks, the late nights, and the small wins that stack into something bigger. So, is the public version of me the real me? Absolutely. Because this time, I’m not just sharing the polished outcomes—I’m sharing the process.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I want to spend less time standing still and more time exploring the world with my daughter—traveling, discovering new cultures, and experiencing architecture that tells its own story. I’ve spent years working and traveling across different countries and cities, but now my dream is to take her with me, to watch her face light up as she encounters new places and experiences for the very first time.
