Story & Lesson Highlights with Hunter Haskell

We recently had the chance to connect with Hunter Haskell and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Hunter, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Behind the scenes, I am building a changed but new person ; full of more humility and bravery. I am creating more confidence in myself and less doubt. I believe I am learning new skills and tactics to replace with negative doing. A couple fundamental things in my life I have been working on … are getting a new education, learning to be a fully independent member of society, and being financially secure stable. Taking on these aspects not only is teaching me maturity but creating a life worth living.

Nobody is seeing the hard and dreadful days that costed me my success. They are seeing what is bright and merry. I think the more I show my vulnerability to my readers, the more authentic I become. The true colors of success are not shown in the days that are all happy and dandy. I believe that pure hard work comes from the time I sat with myself alone.

As I talk about the changes I have made in my life, I smile and ponder because I didn’t have much support going through this journey. I had to get honest with myself and truly look in the mirror and see what needs fixing. It wasn’t as pretty as you think, more of the nitty gritty.

As I move in a new lifestyle change, I applaud myself but know I have more work to do on myself. I challenge others to see what aspects in their life need adjustments and hope they can challenge themselves to improve.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a lifestyle content creator. In the past, I’ve worked with multiple different brands and companies through collaborations and monetized work. I’ve showed my presence in past publications and local interviews. What makes me unique and stand out in the mix is I have showed true real authenticity within my daily life. I built a presence among truth and change.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
An honest part of me that I let go is the insecurity and hatred I had towards myself. I used this as a crutch or a way to victimize myself in a daily life stance. I believe I finally found my purpose in life and that is helping others create a better life for themselves. I held onto a lot of anger and jealousy towards others not because of them ; but myself. I envied other people’s successes.

Knowing I had to dive deep into myself and my insecurities, it was brutal to see the truth of it all. It took inner and outer reflection to get to the point where I am now. I don’t see myself victimizing or even blaming, but more taking awareness and accountability for my actions.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain when I realized it became stronger than my own self. I disguised my pain for a long time and didn’t want to burden others with my struggles. For years, I created an armor on myself to bear the weight of shame, guilt, and fear. I was scared to share my pain and how I truly felt with others. I was scared for their reaction but the pity they would have that wasn’t necessary.

I started to use my struggles as power when the weight was too unbearable. I choose to help my demons by creating a different positive view within them. I directly changed the narrative and decided to help others through the same issues. The more I took my power back and used it in a better manner, the better I felt.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
A cultural value I protect and firmly believe is I think everybody should be treated equal and fair. When race, gender, disability comes into play, I believe strongly everyone deserves an equal opportunity, I stand on this because I see the news and societal issues we have gone or going through at this time. I see the unjust in situations that were handled poorly based off these aspects.

I truly stand with those who have been affected by such an issue. I believe there needs to be less judgement and more character in these situations. Those who have fought fairness in society shouldn’t have because of the poor wrongdoing of authorities.

There needs to be a change but only I have such a strong say to that. I hope to see better in our upcoming generations.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I could absolutely give my best without validation or praise for it. Not everything needs validation or approval. Sometimes you need to pat your own self on the back for doing a good job. Not everyone is going to see your success, some people would rather not just by their own insecurities. Having praise for your successes seems to be like a begging need for “look at me” ” I accomplished this.” Most successful people don’t need praise. The better hidden your accomplishments are the less people can ruin the excitement of it.
