We’re looking forward to introducing you to Whitney Frederic. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Whitney, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
At the beginning of 2024, I made the decision to start my fitness journey. I took my first Pilates class in February but didn’t stay consistent at first. A few months later, in July, I restarted at Dawson Fit gym. It was a welcoming space where I started off timid and unsure of my strengths, but over time, I became more confident and stronger both physically and mentally. The other day, I had an “aha” moment when I looked at a photo from when I first started training compared to now. I felt proud knowing that the results came from staying consistent, believing in myself, and being surrounded by people who encouraged and supported me along the way. In that moment, I was reminded of how far I’ve come, and I felt proud of the woman I’m becoming.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I do a lot, but I will start by saying I am a God-fearing woman. My name is Whitney Marissa Frederic, and I wear many hats. I am a daughter, sister, god-mommy, confidant, and friend. During my 9 to 5, I work as a scientist in pharmaceutical drug development, helping advance medicines that can change lives. Outside of the lab, I am a grad student and the founder of It’s Seasoned™, a food and wellness brand created to help address hypertension in this country, starting in the communities that need it most.
Our offerings currently include flavorful, low-sodium, and salt-free seasoning blends that make it easier to cook healthy meals without sacrificing taste. Soon, we will expand to include heart-healthy cooking classes and demos that make nutrition feel accessible and empowering. It’s Seasoned™ is more than a product line. It is a movement to make wellness flavorful, culturally relevant, and full of joy.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
The part of me that felt the need to always prove myself. The part that cared what others thought and, because of it, sometimes shrank myself to be more digestible or likable. I have learned that playing small does not serve anyone. Today, I embrace every part of who I am, my confidence, my compassion, and my purpose. I have met people who love and appreciate me exactly as I am and push me to be even greater. Because of that, I no longer dim my light to make others comfortable. I move boldly, trusting that I am becoming who God always designed me to be.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell her, “You are more than enough, just as you are.” Do not rush the process or compare your journey to anyone else’s. Every season of your life is preparing you for something bigger, even when it does not feel like it. Keep showing up, stay grounded in your faith, and remember that the same God who guided you through your struggles will bless you in your victories. You are seen, you are chosen, and you are capable of everything you dream of.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I am committed to achieving financial freedom and helping my loved ones do the same. My journey began in 2019 when one of my uncles introduced me to the stock market. At the time, I didn’t know that anyone could invest. I thought you had to work on Wall Street or have a degree in finance. I started by following his guidance, but my curiosity grew. I began studying on my own, watching videos, reading books, and learning how to analyze charts until I understood the art and discipline behind trading.
That same drive for independence also inspired me to build It’s Seasoned™, my food and wellness brand that helps people create flavorful, heart-healthy meals without relying on salt. Both trading and entrepreneurship have taught me that financial freedom is about ownership, creativity, and creating lasting impact. Through my business, I am not only building a source of income but also a platform that educates, uplifts, and empowers my community.
One day, I will travel the world, trading from my laptop and learning about different spices, cultures, and how people across the globe prepare their food. I want to bring that inspiration back home and infuse it into future It’s Seasoned™ blends and experiences. Financial freedom to me means peace, purpose, and the ability to share what I learn to help others live well.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. How do you know when you’re out of your depth?
I know I am out of my depth when I start to feel disconnected from my peace, my purpose, or from God. When I notice that my thoughts are racing or I am moving out of fear instead of faith, that is my cue to pause. I have learned that it is okay to ask for help, to seek wisdom, and to admit when I do not have all the answers. Growth often happens in those moments of humility. I remind myself that I do not have to do it all alone. God will always align the right people and opportunities to help me find my way.
