Dre’Shawna Solomon’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

Dre’Shawna Solomon shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Dre’Shawna , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I’m most proud of the resilience behind KILO COSMETICS. People see the bright smiles and glowing clients, but they don’t see the years of work that shaped the brand. When I moved to Houston, I expected to launch full force, but life had other plans. Even in the seasons when I wasn’t actively taking clients, I was still building behind the scenes, restructuring vendor relationships, refining my products, and strengthening my systems.

The beautiful part is that the journey itself created that resilience. That resilience didn’t just keep the business alive; it expanded its reach. Now, I have the flexibility and network to serve both my original Maryland clients and my growing community in Texas. Kilo Cosmetics didn’t pause — it evolved. It’s no longer confined to one location; it moves with me, grows with me, and meets people where they are. Whether I’m in Maryland or Houston, I’m accessible and my clients know I’ll always show up for them.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Dre’Shawna, the founder of Kilo Cosmetics, a brand dedicated to helping people feel confident in their smiles. Kilo Cosmetics offers professional teeth whitening services and at-home kits that are safe, effective, and easy to use. What makes the brand unique isn’t just the products — it’s the experience. I focus on personalized care, education, and creating a space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered every step of the way.

Beyond the business, I’m someone who loves to innovate, inspire, and help people put their best face forward. Right now, I’m focused on refining the brand, connecting with clients, and delivering an elevated teeth-whitening experience that combines quality, care, and results. Every product, every service, and every smile reflects the passion and vision I’ve poured into Kilo Cosmetics.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that had to navigate challenges alone has served its purpose. Those seasons taught me resilience, resourcefulness, and how to build Kilo Cosmetics quietly behind the scenes. Now, I’m stepping into a new chapter with the tools, systems, and clarity to grow intentionally and show up fully for the work I love.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self, you’re not behind; you’re being prepared. Every pause, every delay, every moment you thought was a setback was really positioning you for alignment. You don’t have to rush or prove anything. You already are everything you’re becoming. Just stay grounded, stay faithful, and trust that the version of you that you dreamed of is already unfolding.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to building a life and career that reflects both purpose and integrity, no matter how long it takes. I don’t believe in rushing just for appearances, I believe in growing at the pace of alignment, not pressure. Even when I don’t have all the support or resources, I keep moving forward in small but intentional ways because I know consistency always compounds. My vision isn’t built on convenience, it’s built on calling.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, I would give everything my best, even if no one noticed or praised me. My focus has never been on validation from others — it’s on growth, purpose, and staying aligned with God’s will. Every step I take, every challenge I meet, and every decision I make is guided by the desire to honor my calling and build something meaningful. Praise is not the goal; impact, integrity, and faithfulness are. That’s what drives me, and that’s what shapes Kilo Cosmetics and the life I’m building.
