We recently had the chance to connect with Dom Hollins and have shared our conversation below.
Dom, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What battle are you avoiding?
Being normal. I study the market and find ways to be different so people can recognize our work without us saying anything. This leaves to the people talking about us and bigging up our work themselves.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is is Dom Hollins, The Marketing Scientist. I have a BA in Business Admin with a minor in Sport Management and A MBA with a focus on Human Resource management and 7 years and counting in admin and behind the scenes in the music industry.
I specialize in helping creatives build a digital footprint to then leverage for opportunities for their brand and business.
Through marketing, PR, press.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Getting double teamed a lot on youth league.
The game of basketball reflects life so much which is why it is so beautiful.
Being double teamed almost every game as an 11 year old will teach you how to adjust. I could have folded but Kobe is my GOAT and I had to get buckets …
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
I can’t do this alone, I need a team. You can’t do it alone, you need a team. This is why we market Shock The Culture as the Marketing and Finance department for creatives.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Friendships, love, and people. One of my
Closest friends said something when we got together for the holidays recently that was heart warming, he said if it wasn’t for Dom we wouldn’t talk as much, bro just different.
I always had this philosophy that Ima be here for my friends and people that matter to help them through rough and good times because Ima do the same. No one wants to talk to certain people about certain things,
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: How do you know when you’re out of your depth?
If I don’t know what it is. I read this book called “The E Myth” that help me understand the importance of delegating task and I am a firm
Believer of letting the expert be the expert and there’s a law in the 48 laws of power that expresses the same because that person and those people respect it and it takes the weight off you. I find people to cover of weak spots. That’s what championship teams do.
