Sasha SOfia of Ventura County on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Sasha SOfia shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Sasha, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Outside of work, I have been enjoying going on long walks in my town and going on hikes. It’s been very fun and a great way for me to pass the time and allow me to not have to think about work or anything going on in my life. I am my most present when I am walking or hiking.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Sasha and I am a Southern California based photographer. I just graduated from college and am working part time and also beginning to get my photography business and brand going. I do freelance photography and as of lately I have been primarily shooting western, cowboy culture, and nature photography.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I would have to say that my mom saw me before anyone else. I think she always knew who I would become and because of that, she has aways pushed me to do what I love and pursue things that make me happy. I think because of this, I have been able to grow up understanding who I am more and trusting the person I have and am becoming.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
A fear that has held me back most in life is fear of failing. I know most people feel this way and I am one of them. No one wants to fail. Being raised by a single mom, that fear was always very big because I only wanted to be able to do well for my mom and take care of her. This fear of failing and letting her down at times has caused me to stop working on my photography and get stuck in my head.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I would like to think my public self or the self I portray on social media is the real me. Obviously I won’t share very aspect of my life publicly but what I do share I feel is authentic to me as a person.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am out in nature and disconnected from the world. Being out in nature with my camera and my mom or a close friend is and always has been very calming and refreshing and I think it always will be for me.
