We were lucky to catch up with Krista Wilkins recently and have shared our conversation below.
Krista , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
got my resistance from my faith in God. That connection gave me strength, clarity, and the understanding that no challenge is too great when you stay rooted in faith. I also knew I was intelligent enough to see that anything is possible when you have the right support system—especially family—and when you stay close to God. That combination gave me the courage to keep going, no matter what.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
’m currently running my DJ business full-time, which has been an incredible journey. I recently transitioned from living in Orlando to South Florida to focus on expanding and growing my brand in a more dynamic market. What excites me most about what I do is the way music connects people—being able to create an experience that brings joy, release, and unity is something I never take for granted.
Beyond DJing, I’m also working on a personal legacy project called “Far From Finished.” This project is very close to my heart—it’s a series of content focused on supporting mental health by educating communities and encouraging open conversations. The goal is not just awareness, but to eventually offer real resources and training that support the wellness of those coping with mental health challenges.
It’s about using my platform and creativity to make a difference—not only through music, but through meaningful, lasting impact.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are consistency in my work, staying grounded in my faith, and being generous in supporting my peers. Consistency kept me moving forward even when things felt slow or uncertain. My faith gave me the strength and clarity to stay focused on my purpose. And being generous with my support—whether through encouragement, collaboration, or simply showing up for others—created real community around me, which has been invaluable.
My best advice for anyone early in their journey is this: do as much work as you can handle. The more you immerse yourself in the process, the more you’ll discover what you truly love, what doesn’t align with you, and how to refine your craft. That grind helps you build the work ethic you’ll need to keep evolving and taking things to the next level. Growth comes through doing—not waiting for perfect conditions.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was allow me to fail—and just as importantly, to learn, relearn, and ask for support when I needed it. They supported every venture I ever tried, no matter how big or small, and that kind of unconditional belief gave me the freedom to grow into who I am today.
They also showed me what it means to show up for people and to pour love into others who are striving to create something better for themselves. My parents were wheat farmers, so I was raised with a deep understanding of the importance of sowing seeds—into your work, your faith, and most importantly, into your people. That foundation has shaped everything I do, both personally and professionally.
