We recently connected with Youstina Sadek and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Youstina, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
By being optimistic you are actually taking the harder choice, you are not weak by any sense of that word and you are not unrealistic. It is easier to sit in your despair, it bets being pessimism- those who are perpetually seeing the darkness in the world are somewhat not sitting with themselves long enough to see beauty, despite the headlines, I will believe in goodness. You are not denying that the world is heavy, you are remembering that happy times can happen in hardships. There is a rational case for optimism and a human one that asks us to stay soft. It will be okay, you will or will not land the career/ relationships/ weight goal that you thought was best for you, but you cannot control life, joy runs on openness. Hardly much, in my opinion, is to be taken so seriously in life except for those rare death experiences that it should hamper on your option to be glad to be alive. There is a lot to take in and be grateful for if you notice. Optimism is earned and begins after despair, just believe in it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a freelance artist, I work under a couple of companies and also for myself. I design and create mostly independent films, commercials, music videos, fashion shows. I enjoy the process so much that it’s hard to give it up. Artist both lose and find themselves in their work. The day to day or gig to gig process looks like this: I will meet up with whoever hired me and their team to discuss the overall look of the project then I will gather my team and we will execute the discuss plan to the satisfaction of both the client and the artists. I also enjoy doing props for art. Props are a section that falls under production design and art directing. Props are small, object that push a story or image forward. Artists, we should let creativity flow and not fixate on the results.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The secret to success is to fail faster.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
I would give my time more life.
