Meet Tess Adams

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tess Adams. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tess below.

Tess, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I think my resilience comes from the combination of experience, faith, and a deep love for what I do. Starting my business in New York City back in 2009 taught me so much about perseverance — it’s not an easy place to build something on your own, especially in a field as personal and intimate as holistic skincare. I had to learn how to stay steady when things felt uncertain, to trust the process even when growth was slow.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’ve been a facialist for over 15 years, and my work has always been about much more than skincare — it’s about creating space for people to reconnect with themselves. I began my career in New York City, where I built my first practice in 2009. It was a time that required a lot of grit and creativity, but it also shaped how I approach my work today: with intention, adaptability, and deep respect for the individual.

My practice has since expanded to Los Angeles and Ojai, and I continue to work with clients between both coasts. What I love most about this work is how transformative it can be — not only for the skin, but for the nervous system and overall well-being. I use Microcurrent technology, LED light therapy and Facial Sculpting massage in my treatments. I encourage a natural, graceful aging process that gives an alternative to injectables. I want everyone to feel good in their own skin!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Intuition, consistency, and adaptability have shaped everything I do. Intuition allows me to truly see each client and understand what their skin — and body — are asking for. Consistency built my foundation; showing up with care and integrity, even in the early years, created trust that has lasted over a decade. And adaptability keeps the work alive — staying open to growth, new modalities, and evolving with the industry has been essential.

For anyone starting out, I’d say: focus on mastering your craft, take genuine care of people, and trust that if you stay aligned with your purpose, your path will unfold exactly as it should.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My sister Sadie Adams really helped open doors for me in terms of training me as an esthetician, guiding me in business and introducing me to clients. She has been a huge part of why the business started and where it is today. Without her mentorship, I would be on a completely different path, who knows if I would even be in skincare!
