We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tal Avitzur. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tal below.
Tal, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My wife, friends, family, and even strangers who show kindness. They remind me that there is always good to be found, even in difficult times. And from my dog. He wakes up thrilled every day just because breakfast exists.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I make things from found objects. I enjoy the endless treasure hunt for raw material, with the whole world as my supply store. Every object comes with a story, and mystery. I never know what I will find, and what sculpture may come from that discovery. Taking something that has been discarded or deemed useless and turning it into something that could bring others joy keeps me going. And, it is good for my brain, I hope … having a workshop full of thousands of part is like a puzzle with infinite solutions.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Curiosity, Playfulness and Imagination. Seeing potential in objects, visualizing transformations and unexpected uses, and wondering “what if?” My advice would be have patience, if you don’t know how to use tools, get a friend to teach you, as I did. But most importantly, have fun with it.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
So many ways! Eat dessert first. Work harder on learning the difference between “art supplies” and “hoarding.” Spend the decade looking for that one missing bolt that completes me. Build a time-machine … powered by laughter. Send messages to parallel universes and hope someone laughs at my jokes.
