Meet Aaron Litschke

We recently connected with Aaron Litschke and have shared our conversation below.

Aaron, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

One thing I’ve found over the years that helps spark my creativity musically is movies and art. If you’ve ever listened to my music you know that I use different excerpts from movies and tv shows to help convey whatever it is I’m feeling at the moment. If I’m sad or mad or feeling sarcastic I usually already have an excerpt or quote in mind that fits my mood and sparks creativity.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I can’t remember a time when I didn’t love music, my mom tells this story about me impersonating Louis Armstrong “Satchmo” when I was three. My favorite album in kindergarten was Thriller. My dad and I had a SERIOUS air guitar band while driving anywhere in the car, dad could drive with one hand and crush the “drums” (his poor legs where smashed to pieces ) with his other hand while I attempted to sing and used the seatbelt shoulder strap for my bass or guitar. I started in band in the 3rd or 4th grade and did that until I started DJing in the 8th grade. In the 9th grade I started playing raves by the 11th grade I was playing shows at First Ave. Fast forward to today and I’ve started my music label (Forgetful Music) and continue to release music. I have had limited success putting out music, my EP “Destroyer Of Worlds” was selected for the Release Radar on Spotify which pushed my numbers up and got me a decent amount of streams.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Being an independent music producer and music label owner you’d think the most important thing I should know about is making music but it’s not. The most important thing is being able to use social media. Running ads making shorts for Insta and Tiktok is just as important as chopping samples and making sure your tracks are in key. I don’t have any advice, I’m still learning what works best for me.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I would LOVE to work with more vocalist and musicians, specifically anyone who’s playing woodwinds or classical stings like cello or violin. I did a collaboration with my friend Anthony Newes, he sang over the top of a track entitled “What’s Gone Is Gone” off of the “Nothing’s On” EP. Toney and I grew up together and have some a similar love in music, when I came to him with the idea I was thinking about and he understood what I was looking for, it was a treat !
