We recently connected with Scott Cohen and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Scott , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I have to give my mom credit for that and her inspiration in overcoming not just one but a few issues that have plagued her health and her life over many years. In spite of the hospital stays she always maintained an attitude of optimism and would never let us kids see her cry. She passed away at 81 but in a body that kept defying the odds and with a mindset that allowed her to live, to thrive and to pass along a trait to her son who in turn has used that trait to also overcome.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I specialize in senior fitness and coaching. I work with older adults who want to take on challenges, continue learning and create a better state of movement, become more independent and build more confidence in themselves and their ability to lead an independent and fulfilling life.
My work starts with building a bond that leads to trust, motivation and inspiration in getting my clients to engage in not only physical but also balance of both cognitive and physical on various levels that always challenge, create greater focus and client/trainer interactions.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Communication
Patience
Customer Service
In my capacity and experience as a fitness trainer I’ve been blessed to work with an extraordinary diverse group of both people from all walks of life as well as groups of diverse backgrounds. I’ve learned that effective communication and relationship building are the key to building your business.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
I turned 65 in 2025 and being divorced and single has allowed me to do a deep dive into my life and the many many mistakes I made and make. I’ve been working on self reflection of who I was at 25, 35 and who I am at 65.
I have forgiven myself for my past life’s foolishness and poor decisions along with the realism that the past is in your rear view mirror and your present should be lived with the best of intentions and acts.
This is my 3rd act and I want to create a life I am deserving and proud of.
Bowie said that aging is an extraordinary process where you become the person you always should have been.
One song lyric….
If I die before I learn to speak can money pay for all the days I lived awake but half asleep ✌🏼
