Meet Jennifer Jaciw

We were lucky to catch up with Jennifer Jaciw recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, really appreciate you joining us to talk about a really relevant, albeit unfortunate topic – layoffs and getting fired. Can you talk to us about your experience and how you overcame being let go?

After experiencing two layoffs in two years, I realized I was done letting someone else control my future. Those moments, though challenging, became the wake-up call I needed to take ownership of my career and my life. Instead of searching for the next job, I invested in myself and became a Career Ownership Coach. Today, I help others do the same – uncovering their strengths, aligning with their values, and exploring business ownership as a path to freedom, fulfillment, and control over their destiny.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

What I do today is truly the culmination of everything I’ve learned and lived through. As a Career Ownership Coach, I help individuals rediscover their confidence, explore entrepreneurship, and design careers that align with the life they truly want, not just the job they’ve settled for. I’ve spent my entire career coaching and mentoring others, whether it was developing my own employees in my first business, guiding teammates in my leadership roles, or supporting clients in my current practice. What excites me most about this work is the transformation I get to witness – seeing someone go from uncertain to unstoppable, realizing they can create their own path.

I’m now expanding my impact through the launch of Jaciw Consulting, which will officially debut by December 2025. Through this brand, I’ll be offering additional services including accountability coaching, branding and marketing consulting, customer service and leadership training, and professional speaking. The flexibility of running a virtual business is something I deeply value – it allows me to work from anywhere, on my terms, while still creating meaningful connections and results.

On a more personal note, my journey hasn’t always been easy. As the child of an alcoholic and a survivor of domestic violence, I’ve faced many challenges that could have broken me. But I refused to give up on myself. Those experiences gave me strength, empathy, and an unwavering belief in resilience – qualities I now bring into every coaching conversation, every client relationship, and every stage I step onto. My mission is to inspire others to see that no matter what they’ve been through, it’s never too late to rewrite their story.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, curiosity, and emotional intelligence.

Resilience has been my anchor through every challenge, from personal hardships to professional setbacks. I learned early on that it’s not the obstacles that define us, but how we respond to them. My advice for others is to practice reframing challenges as opportunities to grow stronger and wiser. Every difficult season teaches you something you’ll need later.

Curiosity has kept me moving forward, even when I didn’t have all the answers. It’s what led me to explore new industries, learn new skills, and ultimately become a business owner. For those early in their journey, stay curious about yourself… your strengths, your patterns, your motivations, as much as you are about the world around you. Self-awareness is the foundation for every next step.

And finally, emotional intelligence has allowed me to build deep connections, lead teams effectively, and truly serve my clients. It’s the quiet superpower behind effective communication and leadership. To develop it, slow down and listen, really listen, to others and to yourself. The more empathy and understanding you bring to your work, the more success will naturally follow.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client – the one I love to work with – is curious and excited about exploring new things. They are open to taking a risk as long they understand the potential reward. They are confident in their abilities, and yet, still coachable.
