Meet Flourish Healing and Wellness Space

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Flourish Healing and Wellness Space a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Flourish Healing and Wellness Space, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
For many of us, especially as Black and mixed women such as ourselves, being the only one in the room that looks like us is not new. It’s a reality we’ve learned to navigate, and it has shaped how we show up in spaces that weren’t always built with us in mind. Over time, we’ve learned that effectiveness and success in those rooms come from: Walking in with Confidence Recognizing that we deserve to be there, and carrying ourselves with that truth. Confidence isn’t about being the loudest it’s about standing grounded in who we are. Knowing and Using Our Strengths Instead of shrinking back, we lead with our skills, our wisdom, and our lived experiences. Those are not deficits; they are advantages. Owning Our Presence Allowing ourselves to be fully seen and fully heard. Speaking in group discussions, naming our truths, and refusing to let others write our narratives for us. Honoring Our Needs and taking up space also means caring for ourselves in ways that are authentic. That might mean choosing the activities that actually nourish us, instead of conforming to what’s expected. It might mean resting, setting a boundary, or simply saying “this is what works for me.” At Flourish Healing and Wellness Space, this resonates deeply with why we do the work we do. We know what it feels like to be alone in those rooms, to feel unseen or questioned. That’s why we are committed to being familiar faces within the community to remind BIPOC individuals that they are not alone, that their voices matter, and that their presence is powerful. When we claim our space unapologetically, we not only honor ourselves but also carve out room for others to step in and feel safe doing the same.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
At Flourish Healing and Wellness Space, our mission is to create spaces where BIPOC individuals feel seen, supported, and celebrated. As women who belong to the BIPOC community, We believe that true healing happens when people feel safe enough to be themselves. What makes Flourish special is that it’s born out of lived experience. We don’t just offer healing practices we live them. We’ve created what we once needed: spaces of belonging, tools that foster real connection. What excites us most is the variety of ways we get to connect through community engagements such as hikes, picnics, workshops, and retreats that blend healing group discussions, Reiki, sound baths, yoga, and massages.
Professionally, our focus is on providing holistic wellness experiences that integrate therapy, mindfulness, community connection, and creative expression. We believe that true healing happens when people feel safe to be their true selves.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that really carried us are perseverance, determination, and resourcefulness. We’ve learned not to be afraid to ask for help, and we truly enjoy learning and collaborating with others. That openness has made our journey richer whether it’s hearing how others heal or sharing what we know as practitioners. For anyone just starting out, we’d say: don’t give up when things get tough, stay anchored in your “why,” and use the resources around you including community. Growth often comes from leaning on others and being willing to learn along the way.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
At Flourish Healing & Wellness Space, we believe healing shouldn’t have to be done alone. Our vision is to provide a sacred space where BIPOC folx can heal, reflect, and rise together. We collaborate with a collective of wellness practitioners to lead transformational retreats, intentional workshops, and soul-nourishing community experiences that center belonging and restoration. We’re excited to continue expanding our collaborator circle and are especially looking to connect with BIPOC practitioners and creatives in areas such as: Sound healing, Reiki, Yoga, Massage therapy (including specialties like lymphatic drainage), Photography (especially those gifted at capturing candid, professional, and soulful moments) If you’re reading this and feel called to be part of our mission, we’d love to connect with you! Collaborators can reach out to us directly through our website or social platforms or via email to be added to our growing collaborator list. Together, we can create spaces where healing, growth, and collective empowerment flourish.
