Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stephanie & Justin Goodman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Stephanie & Justin, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My optimism comes from the people and stories I get to witness in every session. I see beauty in the way someone lights up when they feel seen, in a business owner proud of their work, and in a community that shows up for each other. Memphis has this way of reminding me that there’s always something good growing. That’s what keeps me creating, dreaming, and believing in what’s possible.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Sprinkle Creative was officially launched in 2017, but its roots trace back much further. I developed a passion for photography at a young age, earning recognition in several photography and video contests along the way. These early accomplishments, which included everything from medals & trophies to a memorable encounter with tennis icons Venus and Serena Williams, paved the way for my growing small business.
Initially, Sprinkle Creative offered photography services pro bono, working with local non-profit organizations like Girls on the Run. This hands-on experience helped refine the skills that would later fuel the business’s growth. In time, I began taking on paying clients, eventually bringing my husband on board as a associate photo and video shooter. Today, we specialize in capturing authentic moments through photography and videography, with a focus on branding, product, event, and portrait sessions.
What excites us most is the opportunity to help brands tell their stories through creative visuals. Memphis is overflowing with creativity and character, and we’re grateful each time a client trusts us to capture a piece of their story. Whether it’s a vibrant birthday celebration, a new brand launch, or events as special as the unveiling of a sculpture in front of the FedEx Forum, we feel incredibly honored to be part of those moments. Every project reminds us why we started Sprinkle Creative: To tell authentic stories that celebrate people, creativity, and connection.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to expand Sprinkle Creative into a full-service strategic media partner, helping brands grow through social media strategy, website design, logo and branding development, alongside our signature storytelling through photography and videography. This next chapter allows us to bring even more creativity and strategy together, guiding clients through every step of the process and ensuring their stories truly connect.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, I can think of three things that were most impactful: • Trust Your Vision: Self-doubt is normal, but don’t let it stop you. Focus on what feels right for your work and your brand.
• Embrace Challenges: Take on projects that push you outside your comfort zone. Failing is part of the process, and each challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow.
• Relationship Building: Connecting with clients, understanding their vision, and collaborating effectively is a huge part of our DNA. Building strong relationships not only fosters trust but often opens doors to the most meaningful and impactful work.
My advice to new photographers and videographers is pretty straightforward: Seek out local non-profit organizations. Non-profits are always in need of quality photos, and they’re wonderful people to work with. It’s a great way to give back to your community, improve your skills, and connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The person who has been most helpful in overcoming challenges and developing the essential skills for our success is my husband, Justin Goodman. When we first met in 2020, he became interested in helping me with Sprinkle Creative. I got him up to speed on shooting in manual on our cameras, and since then he’s learned to shoot video, record high quality audio, and juggle behind-the-scenes clips and lighting assistance. He’s been instrumental in helping me fine-tune my skills and elevate the quality of our photo and video work. We’re constantly bouncing ideas off each other for sessions and dreaming together about eventually owning our own studio. His perspective, support, and collaborative approach have been invaluable—not just in the day-to-day work of running Sprinkle Creative, but in helping us grow creatively, strategically, and professionally. Having someone you can trust to challenge your ideas, celebrate wins, and problem-solve together truly makes all the difference.
