Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Monica Chatman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Monica, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found purpose in what I do by realizing that creativity can be healing. When I first started making coloring books, it was something I did for peace — a quiet way to express myself and slow my mind down. But over time, I saw how it was doing the same thing for other people. I started getting messages from customers saying my books helped them relax after long days or that they finally saw themselves represented in the pages.
That’s when it clicked, this wasn’t just about art. It was about connection, representation, and mindfulness. Every page I create carries a piece of my heart and a reminder that we all deserve moments of calm and joy. My purpose became clear: to create tools that help people breathe, reflect, and remember their own power, one coloring page at a time.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m the creator and owner of Positive Mindfulness Hub, a brand dedicated to promoting mental wellness through creativity. I design coloring books, journals, and digital downloads that encourage people to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and find calm through art. My focus is on mindfulness, representation, and positivity—especially within the Black community, because it’s so important for us to see ourselves reflected in something peaceful and healing.
What makes my work special is that it’s all done with intention. Every page I create is meant to spark a sense of peace, self-love, or reflection. I want my art to remind people that they deserve stillness, too.
Right now, I’m most excited about my Breathe Again Therapy Series, which includes Breathe Queen and Breathe King. These are therapeutic coloring books that go beyond coloring—they include helpful tips on managing stress, affirmations, and mindful exercises created specifically for both men and women. The goal is to give people creative tools to support their mental and emotional wellness while they color.
At its heart, Positive Mindfulness Hub is more than a brand—it’s a movement to help people breathe, heal, and rediscover peace one page at a time.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful qualities that shaped my journey have been consistency, creativity, and compassion.
Consistency taught me to keep going even when I wasn’t seeing fast results. Building a brand takes time, and there were moments when I questioned if people really noticed what I was doing. But showing up, day after day, post after post, helped me grow a loyal community that believes in the message behind my work.
Creativity has always been at the heart of Positive Mindfulness Hub. It’s not just about creating coloring books; it’s about finding new ways to promote peace, healing, and representation through art. I’ve learned that creativity flows best when you give yourself permission to try, fail, and evolve without pressure.
And compassion, for myself and others, has been the most grounding quality. I had to learn to extend the same grace to myself that I encourage others to practice. That self-compassion fuels everything I create and reminds me that what I’m building is bigger than me.
My advice for anyone just starting their journey is: don’t rush the process. Stay consistent even when it’s quiet, nurture your creativity like a plant, and lead with compassion. When your purpose is rooted in love and intention, everything you do will bloom in time.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Honestly, my biggest challenge right now is staying motivated when life gets overwhelming. There are days when I question if I should keep going or just stop altogether. I’m a mom, a wife, I work a 9-to-5, I’m a caregiver, and I still braid hair on the side, so trying to balance everything while chasing my passion can feel like a lot.
There are moments when I feel stretched thin, and it’s hard to find time or energy to pour into Positive Mindfulness Hub. But what always brings me back is remembering why I started: to help people find peace, to create representation, and to show others that even small moments of creativity can be healing.
I remind myself that it’s okay to rest, but not to quit. I’ve learned to take things one step at a time and celebrate progress instead of perfection. When I see someone share how my books brought them calm or joy, it reminds me that what I’m doing matters and that’s enough to keep me going
